I'm on jelly bean, and loving it. Android just goes from strength to strength. Google Now rocks, especially once it gets to know you.

If Google and Facebook ever sort their sh1t out, it'll be awesome.

iOS is so boring, ugly and closed.

still waiting for a stable jelly bean port, but so far I'm happy with ICS. Way smoother compared to gingerbread.

Just upgraded to Galaxy S3. Actually got really good trade in value for my S2, but this was mostly because I had to change providers because of a service issue.

Anyway, the operating system almost seems like I went through a time machine. My swype is much worse, my battery icon at the top doesn't show the percent left, and a bunch of other stuff like that. I did the system update, but it hasn't resolved any of this. It's a joke that most of the symbols aren't displayed on my keyboard for fast use, instead I have to hit the sym button like this was 1840.

Should I upgrade, and the much more important question, how the hell do I upgrade? I'm on Android 4.0.4.

That's because it's not swype default, but the Samsung keyboard. Go to the swype website and download swype beta. You can also enable battery percentage in settings. What model do you have? Is it running Android 4.1 or 4.0? If the latter, there would almost certainly be a 4.1 update available.

Edit. Just realised you said you were on 4.0. Yes definitely update. The proper way is to install Kies from Samsung website, plug your phone into your pc, and update away in Kies

The S3 is absolutely fantastic. Just upgraded to Android Jelly Bean.

The keyboard shouldn't be a problem because there are fantastic keyboards available from the market that are better than Swype. Swiftkey for example. You can buy it for cheap or can download it for free if you're smart like me. (H)

Thanks, I'll figure this stuff out tonight. Sounds easy enough.

Updating officially is pretty easy. They make out for computer illiterates basically.

To get the really good custom ROMs is harder though, but don't worry about that unless you need to.

Swype you just need to sign up to three beta at their site, then download it. Samsung keyboard is crap in comparison - not sure why they changed

Looks like Verizon is going to go to jellybean tomorrow, so no need for me to worry about it right now. Awesome, awesome stuff. Everything else is fine. What model? Uh... the Verizon one? 4G LTE.

And yes, that samsung keyboard was hilarious in how bad it was.

Swype is better than SwiftKey. It still holds the world record. SwiftKey is just for people who can't swype - but once you learn it's far and away the fastest input method.

Swype is free from their website, as is the beta of SwiftKey flow which is like a mixture of the two. I stuck with swype though, as flow doesn't give suggestions for your swypes, as it is too busy suggesting the next word (can't have it both ways). Also SwiftKey you can't swype in browser address bars etc

You got swype now? So much better at getting predictions right isn't it? I also LOVE that you can add things like email addresses to the dictionary, and swype them in one go. Awesome stuff.

You find battery percentage?

I had swype on my S2. This is why the Samsung keyboard pissed me off so much. Yeah, all issues solved.

I'm running 4.1.2 on my SGS3 4G (i9305t), it's as smooth as silk.

Wish there was a reasonable amount of uses for NFC though

You lucky bastards. I'm still using the S2 due to being stuck with the contract. I fought the urge of buying the Note II full price, but that's just too much money to be spending right now. That thing is beautiful, though.

I think the note is just too big. I already occasionally get annoyed at my S3 size.

I bought my S2 outright, but my S3 is on a two year contract.

I wasn't that impressed with the S3 on release, but the 4G model fixed most of my concerns - 2GB ram and LTE were two things I really wanted in a new phone.

Well, I don't mind the sizel. It's really not that much bigger than the S2-S3. Not to mention that everyone and their mothers has an S3 (except me of course ). Due to the sheer size of the Note II, a lot of people seem to stay away, so it makes it more appealing to me. Either way I'd be happy with the S3 or the Note II. I just can't afford either of them right now.

Saw the Note in stores. It's big man. Contrary to what some people say, I can fit the S2 and S3 in my pants pockets. The Note is strictly Carlos*et. Anyway, Sprint let me out of my contract because I moved and they don't have towers around here.
