Is EA taking the piss?

Apologies for the language in the thread title, but this was the actual reaction I had when I fired up Fifa 09 yesterday.

I couldn't believe that I'd just forked out 40 Euro for it. For the PC, BTW.

The graphics overall are very bad and certainly not an improvment over 2008. Everything is very dark and incredibly unreal looking, especially the colour of the pitch's and kits.

The player models are terrible. They look NOTHING like the real players. In fact, Fifa 2008 captured the major players likenesses much better than Fifa 2009 does. For instance Pepe Reina does NOT look like that and as for Torres...

The audio is again a real cop out. Same old recordings reused again...very poor.

The gameplay in general isn't as fluid. It's slower and the players mover more sluggishly that in Fifa 2008.

But the most criminal of all the disapointments in Fifa 2009, is EA's decison to dump down the AI. In my very first match, Liverpool v Arsenal, on legendary with professional goales, I beat Arsenal 5-2. Torres got a hat-trick with incredible ease and all that with a controller which wasn't fully recognised by Fifa 09. For instance, I couldn't tackle or slide or get other players off the ball to make runs!!!

If I could beat Arsenal by that much with half my button options missing, I can only guess at how much I would win if I had full control and I'm not that good at the game.

Contrast that with my 2-0 defeat to Hull City in a game I played today on Fifa 2008. Again, on Legendary with Professional goalies.

For me, there is no competition at all. Fifa 2008 is a far, far superior game to Fifa 2009 and I will be playing 2008 for the remainder of the year, because Fifa 2009 is going back in its box.

You need to look at this thread:

Afterwards, the game becomes at least 100 times better, mark my words! You're right, though, out of the box, Fifa 09 is so easy an unborn baby could play it!
