Jardel is soooooooo Underated at international level !!
In my opinion he is the best lone striker there is(with Elber) and definitely has the best Header in the game.....
Pacey too !
Ronaldinho is another awesome player....maybe a little immmature.....but very skillful none the less....

I totally agree with that. I also think Romario should be going. He may not even a play a game yet the younger players like Ronaldinho can learn from him, and if experience is needed, well, he would be there.

jaredel totally deserves the chance so does romario after being top scorer of brazil for 2 ? years if i remember correctly and rivaldo well only a complete idiot would leave him out of the squad i seen some of the recent goals he set up like the one against deportivo MAN!!

Jardel is one of the best pure strikers in the world. He is the best goal scorer in the world. He just doesn't misses his chances.
His problem with the brazilian nt is that he has a totaly different playing style from the average brazilian striker. He's the kind of guy that is barely noticeable during the first 85m of the game and the suddenly...BANG... he scores on his only chance of the game.
Yes, he did nothing in his previous caps for the nt, but nobody played for him. What's the point of having the best header in the game if you throw low ball at him?
Actually he is NOT doubting Rivaldo. Everybody knows Rivaldo will be on the WC. It's for sure. No doubt. He's not gonna play against Yugoslavia just due to an injury. Read my thread about Brazil vs Yugoslavia.
Alex and Jardel had their chances and they failed. About Jardel, we can't make a entire squad plays just for him. And Felipão likes Jardel (and Alex as well) a lot!! He was couch on teams with these players. He likes them both a lot, he gave chances to them but unfortunately they failed. Maybe Jardel got his last chance against Portugal, because he plays in Portugal but I think his chances are little.
About Ronaldinho (Gaucho), he's listed for the match against Yugoslavia. I think it will be his last chance to prove he deserves a spot on the WC list.
I still think Elber would have another chance, but such as the others, he had their chances on the WC qualifying and played just regular.
And look, you are talking about forwarders (and offensive mid-fielders). The "problem" is: Brazil has so many good forwarders the coach has to take some off. There's no reason to call more than 4 forwarders to the WC. The main problem about the brazilian squad is his damn defense.

That's the tragedy: he's gonna let him play against us, but we're pretty much used to his playing style (that's his 4th/5th season here), so it won't be that hard to stop him.
the thing is Brasils defence has always been somewhat weak ... take for exapmle the 1970 team which is to some the greatest team ever ... there defence wasnt all that good but they had so much offensive power they just outscored the opponents. And the problem with brasil in the WC qualifiers was that they just couldnt score... i still think jardel is class.. like i think it was iceblu said.. hez one of those players that stay quite till the 85 min & score on his first attempt ... oh well we'll see what happens..
I wouldn't pick a striker that some team's can predict like that. Even if he has played in the Portuguese league for 4-5 years, you'd still expect world class strikers to be hard to stop. Take Owen for example, I bet if he plied his trade in any nation and England had a match against them, England's opponents would still have a tough time stopping him. I'm sure Brazil has an abundance of world class forwards, so why choose a player that can be stopped as long as you know his style?
