It explained in the paper why he couldn't turn off the ignition, its not in that article though. Something to do with the steering system on the car i seem to remember.

BTW, Cars in India have their max speeds near 120 km/ph..and me gets scared at dat speeds...dont know how u guys go near 135mph...dat has to be scary!

Yeh i was saying that Nick, with it being power steering i think if the engine is turned off it cant work, meaning you wouldnt be able to turn the wheel at all. Essentially it would put the wheel lock on.

Also according to some of my mechanic-minded mates, you wouldnt be able to turn the key anyway, cos you you'd break the key apparently (since the engine was running with so much power.)

at 135mph, you try applying the handbrake at 40mph and trying to stay in a straight line, never mind 135mph AND with the accelerator still trying to drive the car.

I didn't mean pulling the handbrake in one go just gradually increasing the handbrake so you slow down slowly
