.....I've got the slow down problem DOH!!

Strange as the demo version ran brilliantly in a high resolution. So whats the difference then?

I must say that before I installed the patch I had all sorts of problems. Couldn't set the res as the settings.exe file didn't work, couldn't exit the game - always had to end task, set the commentary to say the player's name and it says the number instead (although I think I got that after installing the patch) Uninstalled the game and decided to re-install to C but even though I specified a directory on my C drive, it just installed the game back to it's original location. Not only that but when I go to launch it bugger all happens.

Normally I'd be tearing my hair out but even though I've just spent £30 on a game that doesn't really work properly (yet) but I've had soooo many hours of the demo version that it was practically worth playing the 30 notes just for the demo ( but more importantly a football game that is better than Fifa)

I'll still plod on with the full version....I'll try disabling my soundcard and see if that makes a difference

My specs are:

Athlon 900Mhz
ATI Radeon 9700pro
Windows 2000
384Mb system memory

You really shouldnt have such a powerfull graphics card for the cpu you have, your cpu is a huge bottleneck to your card...
But try turning off AA and AF if they are both on.

I don't know what motherboard you have, but my BIOS has a setting for the block size for videoRAM (graphics aperture size). Maybe that is too low. If you have that setting, put it at 128 MB if possible.
My old board was only able to set it to 64 though...

I already had AA and AF turned off - didn't seem to make any difference.

I've also tried turning off the sound acceleration. I've heard some people say that they think that the stadiums have got something to do with it - but I played a match in the Red Cauldron (which was obviously fine on the demo) and it's still slow.

Might be worth messing with the AGP apeture setting - I think mine will go upto 256mg and I think it's currently set to 128mg.

I have a list of specific things to try so I'll post my findings.

Strange, I have a 1.3 ghz pentium m laptop (dell500m) with integrated intel graphics and have only minor slowdowns in the penalty box. I had slowdowns all over, but after being in trainingmode, its almost gone. BTW, the patch did not make any noticable difference for me

Can you tell us what is your sound card ? I'm almost sure that it was caused by your soundcard. Try to update its driver.

Help please...thanks!

Right click somewhere on your desktop then

Properties > settings > advanced > Your graphics card tab > Performance and quality.

Its all there.

About the agp aperture, it wont do much since 128mb is more than enough for todays games. It just uses your system memory when your card is running low on video memory and usually its set it to a quarter of your overall RAM.

i have no slowdown on High settings and on 1280 x 1024 32 bit colour.

The game is gorgeous to look at at these res, as ggod as FIFA graphically. I have Wolfs kits installed and very good.

XP1800
Radeon Pro 9600
Soltek FRN 2 Mobo (Nvidia NForce 2 Ultra)
512 DDR 400 memory (running @ 133 due to processor)

Everyone thats been complaining of slow down problem, either you processor sucks, or your video card sucks or both
so you need those 2 to be good in order to have no slowdown

Well if the demo version had the slow down problem I'd probably agree with you but it doesn't, it's absolutely perfect.

I would never buy a game without playing a demo first. I use the demo as a benchmarking tool to determine whether my system can handle the game.

I would have thought that the game engine used in the demo would be the same as the full game but this doesn't seem to be the case - something has changed.

The question is "what?"

Hmmm.

I personally didn't like using double speed - I found that the frames per second suffered big time.

Messing around with my system last night I did manage to get the game working alot better than it has been. Whereas before the game was slow all over the pitch it now only slows down just outside the penalty area. I have set the sound acceleration to Full and the sample rate conversion quality to Good. Oddly, if I set the sound acceleration to None, then the game goes back to being slow all over the pitch.

When disabling the sound card, the game run perfectly, just like it did in the demo so I'm going to borrow a couple of alternative soundcards from work and try them out. My current card is an old PCI soundblaster and I do have a Live 5.1 card lying around somewhere.

Getting there........

I now have the game running smoothly - just like the demo.

I had the patched version installed and decided to uninstall it. Re-installed the game and it now runs brilliantly. The uninstaller didn't remove all the files as my saved games were still there and my settings in settings.exe now take effect whereas first time round they didn't. Not sure why this is the case but I don't really care.
