10/11/2002. Over the last two years, a couple of Italian giants, namely Juventus and Inter, have been following very closely the performances of Romanian defender Christian Chivu. The same will happen tomorrow in Bucarest, where Romania will face Norway in their second match of the Euro 2004 qualfiers.
Both the Bianconeri and the Nerazzurri consider the 22 year-old Ajax player as one of the main targets in view of the next season, although they have different needs. Juventus general manager Luciano Moggi thinks that Chivu could be a point of reference for Juve's defence, while Inter need a player capable of covering the right wing.
Chivu used to play as right back in the first part of his young career, but he recently stated that he prefers to stay in the middle of the defensive line. For this reason, Juve appear to have a small edge over Inter.
