Marchionni is Juve bound
Created on 25 Jan 2006

Marco Marchionni is heading for Juventus in the summer, according to his agent.

The talented Parma midfielder will be out of contract in June, although it is understood that he has already pledged his future to The Old Lady.

"Inter, Roma and Fiorentina were also after him," said Bruno Cappeggiani. "We have had a guarantee from the Bianconeri that Marco won't be used as an exchange pawn."

Marchionni will now focus his attentions on salvaging Gialloblu's season before inking a five-year deal with the Turin giants.

I don't think we had to let Barzagli go to Milan for Marchionni. Marchionni is free and a Juve fan. Milan don't play with wingers. They do need a CB or 2 though.

Juve enter Maxwell race
Created on 25 Jan 2006

Juventus are reportedly set to make a move for Ajax's left back Maxwell.

Internazionale have led the race for the Brazilian and seemed firm favourites to secure his signature, but Juve have stepped in with a late bid for the player.

Maxwell's contract runs out in the summer, when he will be a free agent, and clubs are queueing up to snap up the defender on a pre-contract agreement.

Mino Raiola, Maxwell's agent, stated: "There has been no agreement with any club to sign Maxwell, but I'm currently negotiating with a few clubs for the player."

Juventus are keen to bolster their defence after missing out on transfer target Willy Sagnol, who recently signed a new contract with Bayern Munich.

It now looks as if Juventus and Internazionale will battle it out for the 24-year-old's signature.

since when can Dortmund afford 12 mil ?

Mutu has become increasingly important to Juve. No surprise there really..

Yeah, you're right Ice. I mean Nedved's retirement doesn't seem that it will affect us that much when it will happen. Mutu is starting to get the taste of the first team more and more and he didn't let Capello down in neither of the matches where he was a starter.

Starting XI
i was a bit dissapointed when i realised mutu wasn't going to be used as an out and out forward, like in his parma days

but like everyone seems to say, he has become very important out on the wing

Here's our probable lineup for tonight:

Abbiati; Pessotto, Thuram, Zebina, Balzaretti; Olivera, Blasi, Giannichedda, Nedved; Mutu, Zalayeta

No Del Piero. :(

It's far from our best line-up but most of the players there needs some more games (Pessotto, Zebina, Balzaretti, Olivera, Gianni, Zalayeta). Maybe we'll get to see Criscito (he got selected for the match).
