Nedved may Czech out
Thursday 14 December, 2006
Frustrated Juventus ace Pavel Nedved has confirmed that he may hang up his boots at the end of the season.
The Czech made the insinuation after his dismissal against Genoa and has today warned that the current calcio climate is becoming hard to accept.
“I don’t know if I will continue or not, this is not a joke,” he told Tuttosport. “Juventus have changed, but they are the only ones. The rest of the footballing world is exactly the same as before.
“After the summer, referees have decided that when in doubt they will decide against us. They must be thinking that we can suffer a bit now.
“In any case, this does not change my attitude – I am training with the same dedication and passion as before,” concluded the 2003 Golden Ball winner.
Nedved was handed a five-match ban following his Marassi red card when he was found guilty of offending referee Stefano Farina and voluntarily stepping on his foot after being sent off.
An amazed Juventus have lodged an appeal with the verdict expected to be handed out on Thursday.
“I am still very upset about what happened,” continued Nedved. “I was hoping I would forget about it but that is not the case.
“I am a very honest person and I am not saying that what I did wasn’t wrong. I did not behave well with Farina and I was not a good example for the young people who were watching the match.
“I was very angry and I moved aggressively towards the referee to complain, but I never offended him and I never stepped on his foot voluntarily – his report did not state the truth.
“I do not know what to expect from today’s verdict. I never thought I would receive a five-match ban as it’s a very severe punishment.
“I have already said this in the past, but Zinedine Zidane was only banned for three matches and he head-butted Marco Materazzi – this just doesn’t make sense.”
Juventus are hoping to get Nedved’s ban reduced to three games.

Klose ‘accepts’ Juventus move
Thursday 14 December, 2006
Werder Bremen striker Miroslav Klose says he is ready to sacrifice Champions League football in order to complete a Juventus switch.
The German international has been strongly linked with the Turin giants and his agent Alexander Schutt had already stated that playing European football – which Juve won’t have next season – was not a necessity.
“I already told the Werder management that I am interested in moving to a foreign League,” Klose told the Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport. “I am only 28 and I can still do well.
“I have read that Coach Didier Deschamps said very nice things about me and I want to thank him,” he added.
“It is flattering to know that the boss of one of the most important sides in the world has a high consideration of me.”
Klose, last season’s Bundesliga top scorer, is contracted to Werder until 2008 and the club are keen to extend his agreement.
“It is too early to discuss the details of a new contract. I have already met the management and will meet them again in January. Now I only want to focus on our next Bundesliga match.”
Numerous Juventus stars have threatened to quit the club in the summer if the outfit don’t strengthen their squad, but Klose would seemingly welcome a Turin switch.
“Not playing a European competition next season would not be a problem for me,” added the German Sportsman of the Year.
“Obviously a professional must examine the situation carefully before deciding such an important move, but playing the Champions League is not my priority.
“What really matters is the club’s project for the future, the important thing is for Juve to immediately return to Serie A,” concluded the Polish-born ace.
Klose, who is valued at something around £17.8m, caught the eye at the last two World Cup Finals and will be awarded the Golden Boot as top scorer of the 2006 competition [with five goals] next Monday in Zurich.
