"Sky Italia has reported that Kaka is the winner of the 2007 Golden Ball (Ballon d'Or) award. This year, it seems that Kaka has run away with it and, under cover of darkness, he was told last night.

So, too, were his club, AC Milan, and that seems to be the source of the leak. The rossoneri were informed so as to allow them to make preparations for Kaka's presence at the imminent awards ceremony."

As expected...

if anyone else wins it, this competition will be lowered to the same standards that I hold the Fifa award in :(

*Clenched teeth*........well deserved.

On the last matchday at home against Shaktar, he was involved in one of the most beautiful and well constructed counters that I've ever seen, man. It only took two touches I think. The goalie threw the ball down the middle to someone that I can't remember, then that guy set up Kaka with a neat pass for a clear-cut breakaway that he was unable to finish.

Anyone recall what I'm talking about and can link me with a video of that incident?

Anyway. He's about as complete an attacker as they come. He's probably also the most athletically gifted White soccer player that I know of.....maybe Cristiano is a tad more athletic? But he's certainly right up there, man.

Deserved. Could have gone to Ronaldo and maybe to Messi. But Kaka did a fantastic season, specially in the CL. I will always remind the way he destroyed Man Utd defensive line in Old Trafford.

dont forget we won the game 3-2.

Anyway 2nd should be ronaldo. messi shouldnt even be in the top 3 based on last season's performance.

On a make shift defence. Not that it should be a excuse. Lots of cover and rotation this year. Hopefully they will do better, fingers crossed.

Not to take anything away from him, i still think Kaka's last season performance is being overrated.

^^ how do you figure? Statistically do you mean?

I guess it's one of those never-ending domestic league/UCL debates. Ronaldo had the better overall numbers and was more consistent through out the whole season, no doubt, but Kaka shined on the big stage when everyone in Europe and the rest of the world was tuned in. He almost singlehandedly carried his team to that UCL title, man.

We'd all like our players to perform equally well in both campaigns, but that doesn't happen often, right? Personally, I put a greater value on their play in the UCL than I do the domestic league. All those years when Henry was averaging 25+ goals and 20 assists in the EPL, no matter how monumental they might've been, it was still frustrating and bittersweet because he wasn't able to translate his league successes into the UCL competition.

That's the thing about Champions League. When it was the time for quaterfinals, semifinals or the final, Kaka was given a big rest from Serie A games, while Ronaldo would run his head off trying to secure wins for United against teams like Fulham, Liverpool and Everton. I said before that resting for 2-3 days and 8-10 days makes a big difference and i stand by my desicion. Some might tell me i'm bias, but that's still my opinion.
