Try to lower your screen settings maybe, for many pc (like my old one) this extra work is a bit of a pain. Also the stadium you play makes a big different, my frame rate in unstable at delle Alpi. Then again I guess it is a matter of using all the stuff u like and keep out some that might be too harsh like HD kits or HD balls etc.

id like to be so easy, really.
its not a matter of cpu, gpu or configuration. theyre more than just fine.

its simply that applying new textures or structures with a 3rd party application results differently from injecting them directly inside the afs files, i guess.

Yes, probably because in the kitserver, cpu and gpu can elaborate principal and optimally the textures, differently by AFSfile where files are structured in a different path...
Probably also because kitserver works (in background) using cache and memory differently than original game...(there are pc where this could make worse the game and not better, depending from hardware and windows optimization)

I don't notice any difference at all. Maybe only that in some stadiums the pace is higher.... but never noticed a slowdown.. I'm running a P4 3600 with a 7600 GT though....

what is exactly weird is that all this "agile" modification of the gameplay started with the first version of the kitserver (just.dll for the kits applying then), not with the lodmixer or the stadiumserver etc.
kitserver .dll just apply a bypass, letting the game to load a bitmap from an external file, instead of usual way. so from a simple blackboxed pov there shouldnt be a difference in changing the bitmap source (external or internal).
no modification in how the game rasterizes or engines the game itself.
that's what juce's always said about kserver way to work.

kitserver adds more work for CPU, GPU, and operating system (memory management, for example) - there's no question about it. On some computers it is more noticeable than on others. It's not always a question of faster CPU or more RAM or newer videocard.

As correctly mentioned earlier, there's lots of factors here: bigger textures (HD kits/balls), LOD modification, crowd fix, aspect ratio correction for widescreens - all of this affects the game engine. There's no way to completely avoid that.

We (kitserver dev.team) make every effort to minimize this effect, but we don't always succeed. That said, it would be helpful, if people who can see the diffference clearly, did some investigation, for example trying to isolate exactly which kitserver module has the most adverse effect on performance. (A fair amount of work is done by kload.dll, so be sure to test the case when everything is disabled in the kload.cfg.)

Overall, this is a useful discussion, and hopefully we can improve the performance, and get back to that "smoothness" of unmodified gameplay.

Thanks Juce. I'm glad it's an overall effect on the gameplay and not some sort of gameplay mod embedded in kitserver.

The HD kits, and new pitches are totally worth the minor side effect.

yup, the game looks so much better with realistic pitches.. shame that konami can't make pitches like these.. hopefully they will implement a 3d grass and realistic color shades of green grass for the 'real' next-gen title. :)

Robbie and myself bring you the new version 6.4.0 of Kitserver.
(download links in first post)

- bootserver: first "official" release
- faceserver: fixed problem with buzz-cut for players, who didn't have hair assigned.
- kserv: added new "shorts.color" attribute, to allow for correct underpants color.
- kserv: another attempt to fix the infamous "GK-bug". Show REALLY be gone now.
