You can't possibly compare a reconstructed knee twice in less than a year to a sprained ankle.

Messi's toughness isn't in question; he's shown he's tough, but he's been lucky to stay injury free relatively speaking. If he tears an ACL, you're not seeing him back playing in 6-8 months at least, no matter how tough he is.
