"lag" but why?!?!?

when i play WC2002, as well as some other games that require disk in CD-rom in order to play that game, the "action" slows down at the random times for a while and then comes back to normal. My new Dell system has much higher specs than the ones required, but that "lag" appears in game too frequent makin it anything but enjoyable. PLZ help:f***:
Thx:)

sound like it is your cd-rom drive problem to me more then your video card... it slow down when your system try to access the data inside your cd-rom right? try to test it with another cd-rom install into your pc just to make sure...

well i should have mentioned it in first thread that i did try another cd-rom and i dont think there was a point in that since things that my PC has are more than just decent and yet another cd-rom didnt make much difference. I really doubt that it was a video card itself since ive got GF4 4200 but it could be one of the settings that im not quite familiar with. I was also wonderin if any1 else was getting the "slow-downs" but i guess not, which makes it a problem. I still hope that u fellas come up with a solution or im just gonna try to call EA support. Ive called to my PC manufacturer and they couldnt solve the prob. Thx anyway.

And btw i can paste the info from the DXDiag file if u want to know more bout the PC and again thx.

Do u have a dvd - rom?? Dvd has problems reading some cds. So if u have a burner try reading it from there.

well i do originally have dvd-rom and cd-rw and i tried playin on both, ive also tried another 56x cd-rom and again the results were all the same. Yes it does happen with another game, Need for Speed to be exact (EA brand too).....majority of my gaming time i spend playin counter-strike, a modification of a very popular Half-Life(doesnt need to be readin data from CD when playin) but on occasions i do enjoy playin these two.....
I have P4 2.53 GHz runnin on WinXP......512 MB of DDR 2700......GF4 4200 (64 MB).....Sound Blaster Live 5.1.....60GB HD......

well... really strange indeed... hmmm..... did u try updating the driver for your gf4 4200 to the latest driver?

 Man it must be completely software work or then a conflict?? Try not running another programs on the background (like av) when playing these games.

yes EA....and its more than just stupid but w/e

..i also have another pc with much lower specs but pretty decent video card and game runs fine on it so i guess the answer i was given by EA support does make sense...........

is probably true.. because I tried to install it on my new pc to test it, and it was very laggy and jumpy... but it makes sense.. processors over 2.0, werent the norm at the time... so they didnt optimize for them.. like some old games dont work well in xp
