if i was given 30 seconds to come up with an ending to the sopranos it would've been better than that **** Chase put on the screen. people are saying tony got whacked and the screen went blank because he died, i really don't know but David Chase just played millions of people for 9 years.

BEWARE POSSIBLE SPOILERS

you've got no idea mate

the ending was like giving you a glimpse into the way tony lives every second of his life, it was edge of your seat stuff as meadow parked the car and everyone in the diner looked like a suspect killer

then the blank ending relates back to bobby's comment, "you probably don't even hear it when it happens"

it's like chase got us, you could never hear (ie see) it happening, it's like the audience was 'clipped' or 'whacked'

life goes on for tony, we can speculate as to what was going to happen in the diner, if anything, the beauty of it is, our journey with tony is over, but his journey as a person isn't, it's like he'll always live on, like the final song, "Don't stop believing"

it's crap to think such an epic series would just fall neatly into place and end, it's never been about that

the finale was great, plenty of imagery and signs subtly inserted into the story, plus we got a little taste of things we've loves over the journey

man that was beautifullly and brilliantly put. I was really dreading writing anything about this last ep simply because I'm/was (until I read this post of yours) still unsure and all muddled, but then I saw yer post and was like..."Yeah, that ****er is making sense to me, man."

Anyway, I wasn't all that satisfied with this last ep when it first aired live. I thought that they meandered a bit too much and wasted precious time on some unimportant subplots that took away from the main theme.......that ending was just so dramatic and outrageously abrupt at first watch because you're expecting him to be clipped by that suspicious lookin character as soon as he comes out of the washroom but now that I've re-watched it, I'm slowly beginning to appreciate the quality of it all and the level of attention paid to the smallest of detail by Chase and crew.

I'm really glad that it wasn't your typical cliched ending. This total pricktease/mind**** of a conclusion is deftly genius and hilarious, man. It was like a big **** YOU to all the overly inquisitive/yenta types, man.

WOW, after watching it ever since it came out, The Sopranos have come to an end. Brings tears to my eye.... A lot of ppl are pissed about how it ended, but I personally thought it was the best possible ending. Leaving it up to imagination, a perfect Sopranos ending. You guys remember in the fisrst episode of part 2 when Bobby and Tony are talking about death. Tony says something like it's dark and soundless......

easily will go down as one of the best series on TV.....

who knows, maybe we'll see a revival, and def. a movie......

definitely, bro, definitely. I felt violated upon first viewing of it last night......with that closureless ending and all...........but now that I've watched it several times over, that last five minutes of the series was some of the best in tvland history, man. Boy was it torturously suspense-filled, eh? He's at that tiny diner that feels deceptively threatening, and also, claustrophobic......he's trying to suppress his apprehension and nervousness, but he can't, sitting at the back seat facing the entrance and monitoring it like a security guard on high alert double++. Everytime that someone comes through that door, he stops whatever he's doing and begins to examine them......stocky lookin young feller....is he the Grim Reaper? I guess not.....wife enters, and then soon followed by deadbeat son....and then some stereotypical lookin gangstas.....could these punk ass lookin mofos been ordered to clip 'em? Then finally, that Italian hitman lookin dude right out of central casting.......he definitely has to be it, eh? He's lookin over at his direction every five seconds with intent. Then the suspense is pushed to overdrive, as he walks calmly past the family to use the washroom...right out of the Godfather......he's definitely gonna clip 'em now...maybe even the rest of the family there at the table to boot......meanwhile, Meadow, the typical female klutz that she is, can't even parallel park. She finally manages and the second she enters, the screen goes blank and mute.....along with that gay ass Journey track.........followed by the longest ten seconds of silence ever...wowwowow!

At this point, I'm going totally ape on my box, cursing the **** out of Rogers and all, and just about to blow a gasket when my mother informs me that it wasn't a technical difficulty, but infact the way that Chase had chosen to end it.....credits soon follow.....LOL......mother****er! I felt like a fool and that I'd been dicked with in the most evil of ways.

Being the simpleton that I is, I just wanted to be spoon fed the usual integrity-less Hollywood schlock ending, eh? Something sweet and simple....something that was distinguishable and easy to digest, but instead he chose to be his usual unbending and original self and left us with this baffling and ambiguous but still nonetheless brilliant ending.....sheesh!

I've never seen a show get such a coverage for its last episode. The commotion and uproar that both preceded and followed it was insane to say the least.......and all this from a cable tv show.....imagine if it'd been on one of the big four?

Anyway, I HOPE that Chase sticks by his word and doesn't revive this show in any capacity......it'll only ruin what the show has established imo. I mean, that ending can't be topped. And a movie or a continuation will only harm it severely and make it all cheesy and gimmicky.....I hope that he's above all that, no matter how much money is thrown at 'em.

btw, Fotbalguy. If you were to adapt it to movie form, how would you go on with it from here? I mean, with pretty much all the main characters dead and all. Would you construct a non-linear type of script and go back to when everyone was still alive and develop something new from there?

I really don't see how it's gonna work, bro.

notice how when meadow crosses the road, the sound of a loud train is heard, also much like michael's first hit in the godfather

i can't see a movie working, and i hope it doesn't happen, if you were to make one, there is still paulie, silvio, tony but the glaring omissions are chris and a notable badass to run NY

the only negative i can see with the lack of closure ending, is that chase can make a movie/continue it however he wants to

^^hehe....yeah. Let's hope that he's above all that ****.......btw, what was up with that damn cat? LOL.......I'm so gonna miss Paulie, man. What a ******* legend, eh? He, along with Uncle Junior and Ralphie were my favourite peoples from the show.

hey, one more btw.......what did you think of how Phil was dealt with? The way he was reduced to a helpless little child really annoyed me, man. Here's the leader of the biggest crime family of all and he's running around to local gas stations unprotected, to make calls, in nearby Long Island....with his daughter and her children in tow..........WTF gives? While all the while, the one who should be the more fearful of the two and ****ting his pants is prancing about all over the place as though everything is hunky dory and there isn't a contract out on 'em

hurhurhur......makes a lot of sense. Since the damn thing was holding a vigil over the ******* picture nonstop......even when Paulie moved it.....LOL.

In that case then. I don't blame Paulie for drowning its creepy ass one bit.

There is speculation that a movie will be in the works, however, I definately agree that the series should not be ressurected in any way. I just watched the last ep again last night and man, it was pure genious. Supposedly there were three endings or so filmed and maybe they'll be on the dvd.....
