definitely, bro, definitely. I felt violated upon first viewing of it last night......with that closureless ending and all...........but now that I've watched it several times over, that last five minutes of the series was some of the best in tvland history, man. Boy was it torturously suspense-filled, eh? He's at that tiny diner that feels deceptively threatening, and also, claustrophobic......he's trying to suppress his apprehension and nervousness, but he can't, sitting at the back seat facing the entrance and monitoring it like a security guard on high alert double++. Everytime that someone comes through that door, he stops whatever he's doing and begins to examine them......stocky lookin young feller....is he the Grim Reaper? I guess not.....wife enters, and then soon followed by deadbeat son....and then some stereotypical lookin gangstas.....could these punk ass lookin mofos been ordered to clip 'em? Then finally, that Italian hitman lookin dude right out of central casting.......he definitely has to be it, eh? He's lookin over at his direction every five seconds with intent. Then the suspense is pushed to overdrive, as he walks calmly past the family to use the washroom...right out of the Godfather......he's definitely gonna clip 'em now...maybe even the rest of the family there at the table to boot......meanwhile, Meadow, the typical female klutz that she is, can't even parallel park. She finally manages and the second she enters, the screen goes blank and mute.....along with that gay ass Journey track.........followed by the longest ten seconds of silence ever...wowwowow!
At this point, I'm going totally ape on my box, cursing the **** out of Rogers and all, and just about to blow a gasket when my mother informs me that it wasn't a technical difficulty, but infact the way that Chase had chosen to end it.....credits soon follow.....LOL......mother****er! I felt like a fool and that I'd been dicked with in the most evil of ways.
Being the simpleton that I is, I just wanted to be spoon fed the usual integrity-less Hollywood schlock ending, eh? Something sweet and simple....something that was distinguishable and easy to digest, but instead he chose to be his usual unbending and original self and left us with this baffling and ambiguous but still nonetheless brilliant ending.....sheesh!
I've never seen a show get such a coverage for its last episode. The commotion and uproar that both preceded and followed it was insane to say the least.......and all this from a cable tv show.....imagine if it'd been on one of the big four?
Anyway, I HOPE that Chase sticks by his word and doesn't revive this show in any capacity......it'll only ruin what the show has established imo. I mean, that ending can't be topped. And a movie or a continuation will only harm it severely and make it all cheesy and gimmicky.....I hope that he's above all that, no matter how much money is thrown at 'em.
btw, Fotbalguy. If you were to adapt it to movie form, how would you go on with it from here? I mean, with pretty much all the main characters dead and all. Would you construct a non-linear type of script and go back to when everyone was still alive and develop something new from there?
I really don't see how it's gonna work, bro.
