With as strong as Olympiakos and Panathinaikos look, I say they they have a good run in the CL. Along with AEK and PAOK in the Uefa Cup. Iraklis and OFI Crete look good also.

Simonius your funny man. Thanks for the free entertainment. Were did turky come out of. I Realize thay have a good National team and Galatasaray is a good club but that's about it. Gala goes to the villages and beats every team that ands with spor easly. There is no compitition there. The only thing turky has going for them at the club level in Europe is Gala and thats all, mind you that's still very good and I'm interested on how they do after all the changes that have taken place on the team.

nice nice nice, well well well. Simonius, your point of view is FAR from the reality because league rankings are used to rank leagues, remember? Although I am quite surprised you did not add Switzerland to your list, because last year, some certain individuals on this forum from Turkey ranked their championship as the best in Europe.

I am quite concerned about the leagues you listed from 7 to 10-th places. Portugal and Turkey are ok, especially Turkey, the fast growing league, but Czech Republic? They are ranked a bit worse than Russia in UEFA rankings, but I think that you wouldn't add Russia even in the first 15, wouldn't you? If yes, why?


About Russian League:
I know, the clubs' funds in Russia are pathetic (the biggest transfer in Russian 9 year old history was the signing of Yuran to Spartak...for just 1 million dollars), but that does not mean anything at all. Also, Russia did pretty poorly last season, but that shouldn't put my league down.

Kostas 7 You say that the only good team in Turkey is Galatasaray......That isnt true. Turkey also has Besiktas which Just qualified to the champions legue with a 3-0 and 3-1 victory against lokomotiv Moscow.
And they also have Fenerbache which has also been in the champions legue a couple of times....(Last time they actually beat Man U 1-0 in Old trafford)
The Turkish legue should have been on the top 10 list!

Manny I know those teams exist man but lets face it. They don't have the impact Gala has in the European scene. And the rankings are based on the performance the clubs from each country. For example greek teams in the past 5 years have always been a force in the Champions league and have don well, with the exception of last year and that's why we fell from 7th to 9th. Now your going to say but Gala did well too for turkey and I agree but it's points accumulation still isn't enough. For example sum up the points Gala obtained from there uefa campaign (-) minus the champions leauge losses it comes out to a small gain. Add the small contribution other turkish teams had in the Uefa cup if any and it still isn't enough to propel the Turkish league into the top ten. Most of us here are favouring our home leages and that,s not right. The Spanish leauge desirves to be first cause there teams were succesfull last year and due to that they will have 9 teams this year in the European compititions. What this means is that the Sanish league will aslo be on top for the upcomming years cause they are bound to do well with so many teams. All thats neaded is a couple of back to back years of succes in those compititions and the league rattings change.

kostas, you say those teams didn't do well in europe. well maybe they didn't win any championships or go to semifinals or anything, but they still do a solid job each year. assuming your greek, what have greek teams done exactly huh? i'm not criticizing greek football (unlike you for turkey) but i have to defend my league and point out what i believe is true. all you greeks do is criticize turkish football everytime (or well, when you reply to things) it's mentioned, you just can't stand to see it in front of your greek league. you think your teams like iraklis, ofi crete, or paok are so good, well this might surprise you but others don't. i've never even heard of iraklis and ofi crete. there're plenty of turkish teams that could take care of those teams, and aek too. so don't comment on something you don't know anything about. again, i'm not trying to criticize your country's football, but you shouldn't say turkish football shouldn't be up there when you insist that the greek league should be there. that's just plain stupid.

simonius, all you did there was rearrange the leagues. czech republic? what do they have there? i think belgium or russia should take its place.

Every time we greeks open our mouths you assume it's critisizing turkey.Boy are you brain washed, guy I bet you you don't even know why this whole Greek-turkish thing is going on. Someone once told you to hate greeks and there you go. Did you even bother to read the the post? Or the fact that a greek was just mentioning something about turkish futball was enough for you to start accusing others. All I said was how the fucking point system works. If you don't want to read that and assume there is another anti-turkish movement between the words that's fine with me. Point's my friend points, regardles of were the team is from. On the contrary I gave respect to Gala in those postings but I'm not surprised you reacted like that. How old are you child. And since you mentioned it Panathinaikos whent to the semifinals and the year after Olympiakos whent to the Quarterfinals of the CL. And before you start up again may I remind you it's the CL all teams want to be in, not the Uefa cup. This however doesn't diminish the victory Gala had last year, it was a well desirved one and hard faught. So please spare us with Turkish Greek stuff ok. When you uderstand the difference between Nationalist and Patriot than we can talk.

BTW. I'm not insisting that the greek leauge should be up there cause it is. Second of all my postings I didn't even mention that the GR leauge has been unfarely ranked. I was mearly mentioning how the point system works. Now read this post for what it actually says. It is not a bomb threat or an assault. It is in your hands now. We either end this and act as gentelmen or we could act as nit wits. Your choice. I personally don't care and defienetly have nothing against you and we must keep our cool.

It is to my knowledge that every time someone's OPINION differs with yours or isn't all that great about Turkey u freak out...Why? Like Kostas said u can be patriotic but don't freak out to that next level. Turkey has some good teams:Gala,Besiktas but thats all I have heard of. And thats all that have shown me there good,well at least Gala.

I 'watch' the Turkish league,i'm not a good follower but I keep up with it. Nobody ever said it was bad,nor did they say PAOK,Iraklis and OFI Crete are the best. Those teams are good,but counld't compete in lets say the CL.Uefa Cup though is another story. Those teams I think can make it to the 3rd round,which for the 4th and 5th best clubs in Greece is pretty good. All in all my OPINION is that the Greek League as a whole is better than the Turkish. I mean when a player like Jardel just comes in and scores 7 goals in one game it shows that Turkeys lower teams really aren't matches at all......

With all due respect, I have to say that I am sceptical of the Greek teams. For the past few months I've seen posts on the forum that read "Whoah ! Watch out for ____ team from Greece ! They're really going to kick ass !" I don't watch Greek games, and who knows, perhaps they are really great. But I don't think that even with the few numbers of players that they send abroad or that have great talent at home, they would be able to match up to the bigger leagues.

Also about the Greek team, why is every Greek trying to make them seem intimidating and powerful ? Let results show that for you, don't post things like "Watch out ! Greece is going to kick ass !" Let us witness that for ourselves, because as much as you rant on and on, only results ultimately prove if they have improved or not. I think Greece's aim should be qualifying for WC 2002 before thinking of themselves as a football power.

2nd I merely stated that Greek Teams especially Olympiakos signed some really good players this off season and Greece has alot of young talent. Those are facts as for World Power...Hardly, And I never said that. Like u said lets hope results speak for themselves....

Which topic is the one the Greeks are braging in and if you want 56 players names and there teams of those greeks that happen to be playing in the top 10 (- greece)Uefa rankings I would be glad to help you out with.
