My line of thinking with respect to this is that it's on so much on TV that even if you really want to see a particular episode (I.E. the reason you buy tv show DVD's) probability states that it is likely to air within the next 48 hours anyway.

I'm with Virgin Media - SKY 1 was dropped from the VM package after SKY hiked the price up - Channel Four is only allowed to show episodes three years old (plus Sky 1 showed far more episodes per week too)
