Leaky Defense

Anybody have any suggestions of how to position a defense? At the moment, I'm conceding way too many goals, and it's costing me results.

I've tried loads of variations of a 4 man defense, but so far they all seem to result in 2 of them doing pretty much nothing. So is a 3 defender tactic the way to go,

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Same here, I don't usually do any different from three at the back, cos 2 isnt enough and 4 is too many. I always concede too many goals, but that might just be the poorness of my defense... can't wait till my keeper gets his eighth in keeping :s

I play a three at the back with 2 midfielders just in front. Its aided me in two nice cup runs but you still let in goals. Theres a simple answer Ash

"score one more than the other team." :p

i have a diamond type defense with the back 3 nearly in a straight line and the stopper right in front of the middle back

Up until today, I'd have said 3 at the back, with either 2 (as I had been playing) or 3 (as I am now) in front. Keep a solid back line, with plenty of people to intercept any through balls.

However, had some very annoying results today. People scoring 2 against me from 4 SC, when I only get 2 from 16. Or 3 from 6 when I only get 4 from 15.

So I'm in no position to give you any advice. :)

I have the same problem :( It works well against better teams but not against worse teams... before I could rack up big scorelines against crap teams but not with this tactic, strangely enough. Might keep it for decent teams but a 3-3-1-3 for rubbish teams.

If playing against short passing, 3 defence and 4 mids will be enough (if your mids are good enough to outplay their mids).

Playing against long balls might be a problem here, but I always used 3 man defence...works pretty well for now, even on the international field.

Tried experimenting but every time I lose. 4 at the back with meatwall works every time - i just let those 2 wide boys go to waste.

Look at Germany vs England for the results :f***:
