I wanted Alavez to win. But it's hard to play with 9 players in your first international cup versus a big team like Liverpool. They even thought wearing the BOCA JUNIORS shirt would give them luck..oh well next time kids.

Gerard Houlier seems a very nice bloke indeed and he's put in a lot of hard work to rebuild Liverpool, McAllistair was play outstanding and he was my man of the match too.

I think no embrassing for Alaves, they had done what they can, and they had showed that they are one of the rising power house in European soccer. Losing in way, we can only say "this is not their year".

There is absolutely no reason for Alaves to feel embarassed. They done themselves and the game proud with their attitude, and they were close to snatching the game from Pool.

Nuff respect to Alaves - they are not a team of nobodies (Javi Moreno is the leading scorer in Spain, and Contra is a Romanian international, amoungst others), but my God, what heart they have - to come from behind so many times. They never said die, they were down to 9 men in ET, but they were lucky because they could have easily been down to 9 men during regulation time - keeper should have been sent off and then there was that horrible tackle on Owen.

I am so proud of Liverpool, by the time Saturday is over they will have played more games in a single season than any other club team (even more than United when they did their amazing treble), but even in extra time after a long season everyone was full of running. And the 12th man - the travelling kop helped of course.

I'm so proud.

i'm not too happy about it.I wanted alaves to win but....as they say MAY THE BETTER TEAM WIN and it was their day.

But...Alaves showed the team they can be
i told you they were the underdogs and they would strike back and man they did strike 4 times and kept liverpool on their toes..
