Liverpool - Chelsea [R]

You need to take the game to Chelsea and put pressure on the center halfs if you want to beat them. Crouch isn't superhuman, he can't do that on his own.

There was very little support for him from the mid-field, like i said before he needs a forward to play off him otherwise you spray long balls up to him and they just end up back in the oppositions possession.

I honestly think we'll be the only ones challenging Chelsea this season...seriously. Arsenal can't get their sh!t together, Liverpool play this utter steaming pile of sh!t football called "hoof the ball to Crouch"...It's aweful. If you aren't gonna utilize those great central midfielders, how about you send Alonso our way then? So we wouldn't have to play a striker in the middle.

I saw the match today and Chelsea were far superior in every way. Liverpool's goal happened when Chelsea's defense bent one of only a few times, and only a genius finish from Gerrard gave them the equalizer. Then Chelsea go down the other end and carve through Liverpoo's defense like a hot machete through butter.

We are only 1 point behind you. And with Campbell Soup back in the line up we look strong defensivly. The only problem now is that we cant really score without Henry but once he comes back that will be sorted out.....

4-1 was kind of a lie. But we are poor at scoring, and Chelsea have plenty of players that can do it, so thumbs up for them. Anyway, Drogba deflected Traore's clearance with the hand in the first place (protect face my arse, a ball on the face wont kill you and from what i know, only the goalkeeper can use his hands in football, so dont come with lame excuses). Joe Cole was offside on the 3rd goal - the rule clearly states that there has to be at least 2 players between the attacker and the goal line for the goal to be legal. There was one.

Not blaming it on the referee, but i think we got screwed. Guess we wouldve lost anyway, but not by that margin. Embarassing.

Reading too far into the scoreline? Did any of you watch the match? If you did you would know 4-1 was not a fair scoreline. Chelsea's last 3 goals were very scrappy. Maybe not Duff's so much but im sure he didn't mean to take such a heavy touch then scrambled it forutunately in. Joe Cole's goal wasn't even meant to be a pass and Geremi's goal was only available to him cos of Robben's scuff.

Either way Chelsea deserved to win, but 4-1 is pure flattery.
Duff's was a tap in created by Drogba's brilliance, Didi's intentions on Cole's goal were debatable at best (he saw him flashing unmarked for the far post, and yet chose a wild shot in the same direction anyway?) and Geremi's goal was a pure leave by Robben, who, if you look, checked his position as Drogba was steaming in on the left.

The only reason it became such flattery for Chelsea is that the fourt goal was scored quickly while your boys were still wetting their whistle with sideline water, and were caught with their pants down. You had a CB and Leftback that got eaten alive, and thats what flattered Chelsea.

Sorry but I cant let that go: he was not offside. I have seen the replay about 5 times now, and they stopped the thing to the moment of contact with the ball: Your lost boy from sunday Hyypia gave about half a player length keeping him onside, and if you watch the clip, youll see him totally turned around when the pass was played. The guy barely even knew what was going on during that play, let alone where to play Cole to leave him off.

First game you may of seen, but he has played plenty of good matches.
Exactly. People are so conditioned to calling him crap that it becomes the status quo to just assume he is, nevermind his performances

You and untouchable have now said this: yet a week ago, Chelsea were the merchants of the most boring football known to man (not according to you, just the general consensus). I just want to make note of the fact that that theorey, that Chelsea are ruining England with a boring style, has been turned over this weekend

Ah, that's what certain elements of the press said but we cannot rely on the press to give a fair reflection of every football fan in the country.

Anyway i think Chelsea have hyped all this up to get more of a reaction out of the players and judging on Sundays performance, it worked.

The last defender was indeed in front of cole, but the second defender I think was not, and the offside rule says a player is offside when standing in front of the second defender including the goalkeeper when the pass is done, and reina was way behind. (By the way, what was the point of signing reina ?? :brow: ) Therefore, I think cole was offside on that goal.
I'd like to point out I'm a chelsea supporter so my point of view is totally objective :p (Y)
