Benayoun and Kuyt were better, until you the 2nd half when the entire team sucked balls. Sure, you had Villa pinned inside their own area for about 10 minutes but you did nothing there. Mascherano, Gerrard, Voronin, and anyone going in an out of the area just didn't know how to move the ball properly. You should be tearing them apart in the final third, not giving them time to have a cup of tea.
I think you should change formation all together, pending Aquilani's try-out in the Xabi role. I'd move Gerrard back and make him the playmaker and have Kuyt and Benayoun move around the final third making spaces with Torres waiting for the goal opportunity.
Oh, and sort your corner-marking out.
