They weren't right to confirm it, they guessed correctly, but it was only a guess. Anyway, blow for Liverpool, though to be fair who in their right mind would turn down the CL finalists and Bundesliga runners up to play for EUROPA spot challenging Liverpool?

I have a soft spot for Brendan Rodgers. I HATED Liverpool under Hodgson/Dalgleish, they were possibly my least favourite club in the entirety of English football, but I really like what Rodgers is doing and want him to be a success.

Also I feel them getting stronger hurts our rivals more than us because they usually get the better of us anyway, so if they can also take some points off the Manchesters that would suit me.

it was a great strike, hopefully he'll look as good this season, and hopefully Suarez gets his head out of his ass and stops this wanting to go crap... with all the troubles he brings with him, we still need him

I still have not seen ANY evidence that Eriksen is anything like as good as everyone says he is.

To be honest, Suarez has to be one of, if not THE best footballer in the world not playing Champions League football. If you want to keep him it is up to you to get to CL standard, he cannot be expected to stay if he cant play there.

yes I know.. The thing is that he's one of, if not the most important factor in us getting into CL again. It can be argued that with the money we get from selling Suarez we could get another quality player to replace him, but these days I don't see that happening.. We were lucky to have just gotten Suarez when Torres left, and the majority of the FT sale of course went to Andy Carrol... I fear another transaction like that, although I do trust Rodgers to do what's best.
it doesn't take a genius to figure out thought that the closer we get to cementing ourselves as a mid-table team, the fewer quality players are going to want to play for us, we just lost out on Mkhitaryan for that reason...

If Suarez leaves, I'll understand it from his point of view. of course he wants to be in a team that's challenging for titles and playing in Europe... who wouldn't? I'd be really upset though if we end up selling him to a team in England

I dont think you will be able to reinvest the money from the Suarez sale anywhere near effectively enough to cover for him, I suspect the Rodgers approach would be to divide it and spend it on three or four promising young players who would probably be very good, but cant match the Suarez pedigree. You are absolutely right, with Suarez you almost look like a team that could challenge for CL spot (though missing out on Mkhitaryan was a blow to that), but without him you still dont really look any better than an entertaining mid table side.

Both into their final year of their contracts at Ajax. Makes sense. Not even remotely getting my hopes up though, especially after what happened with Mkhitaryan.

Yeah I recommend you dont. I think if I was a Liverpool fan I would ignore all newspapers until the day after deadline day and then look at the squad then and see who you have.
