I dunno, Germany seem to set insanely low release clauses. I mean, Hahn cost Gladbach 2.5m and if he were an English player he'd go for 20m easy.

Would have been one of the best midfield one could imagine for a similar price. Then they'd just have to replace Modric with Gundogan once he gets old and that's the midfield of the future. Or maybe push Kroos back and slot Isco in there.

I don't really get the James transfer. Isn't Di Maria currently better and Isco could very well be better within a year or two? In the attacking band he won't displace Bale or Ronaldo either, so unless someone's getting converted to a central-ish forward a la Robben or something, I don't see Real putting all their expensive players on at the same time. They don't have to, of course, but spending Bale money for someone to rotate is kind of stupid. For maybe 10-20m more they could have gotten Pogba and Reus, who would make for an interesting trident with Bale and Ronaldo. It might not work, but I think it is more probable to work than sticking James in there somewhere.

Can't wait to see who Madrid off-load though.

Two more balanced midfield players out, more attacking midfielders in. I think it could work, just like Barca's midfield has managed, but I'm not sure it will, and if it will, it will likely misuse one of the midfielders.
