Lone Striker Sucks

Teams playing with a lone striker formation are boring! It seems to me that the lone striker isn't working very well and the teams can't seem to put up decent attacks with the lack of firepower. First it was Pauleta who didn't do a **** in the game, and now Vieri only got in one header in the whole match for Italy. Are we going to see van Nistelrooy doing squat next?

Note that the most exciting match so far (France vs England) have both teams playing with two strikers unlike today's match where both teams didn't.

But today's match wasnt boring at all. Just very good Goalkeeping by both sides.

But yea. Teams with a lone striker will eventually have less chances on goal.

I has sh!T to do with playing 1 or 256 strikers......it's about the midfield performing well and feeding the strikers with good balls....

I wouldn't say that today's match is exciting. Good enough to hold my attention yes, but nothing to shout about.

Italy's offense was horrible and their midfiled didn't even hold the ball enough, not to even mention feeding vieri with it.

It's because a lone striker has to be everywhere and has to deal with both Central Defenders by himself. Two strikers makes it one on one. Holland won't really have that much of a problem because they are playing with the "Winger Forwards" which always cause a big problem.

Probably we will play with 2 strikers wednesday, Pauleta and Nuno Gomes.

That was my suggestion last week, that they should play with two up front.

Remove Maniche for Nuno Gomes.

Better still, replace Maniche with Nuno Gomes and Simao with Ronaldo(not that Simao was that bad against greece, but i just think ronaldo stands more of a chance of beating Puyol in a one-on-one than Simao. Then again, the Russian right-back shouldn't cause problems for either of them so it doesn't matter who plays against Russia. Ronaldo should definitely start against spain though)

Simão is a more complete, and overall better player than Ronaldo. CR's time will come, when Figo retires.

I've never been a fan of lone striker. It's asking too much of one player, really.

You always need an outlet to get goals if one striker is having a bad match.

lone striker idea is stupid, dumbass Yartsev played Bylukin as lone striker and he didn't get 1 shot on goal at all and out of all people he could play he played f*cking Bylukin who has been in the worst form ever

Internationally is different tho. And i didn't exactly see Man Utd's lone striker pouring in goals against Arsenal and Chelsea...who have international class defenders.
