Looks like a good FIFA year ahead

We've had the demo for nearly 2 weeks now, and I must say, judging by what I've played and what I've read others post here, it looks like a good year for FIFA. I know it's not perfect, but the addition of the external Creation Centre (ie. not in the game, although it has a direct effect) means that we'll definitely see the most editable FIFA ever on the PC (not the PS2 yet, though). We had loads of patches and kits for the 2002 edition, and the game itself was a bit disappointing, I myself have played PES more on my PS2 than FIFA this year.

All in all, it looks like a good year for us, the gamers, and a busy one for the patch/kit makers!

Well done EA, obviously they've seen the popularity of patches and editors, and they've embraced it. Will the game be as good as PES/PES2?? We'll find out in just over a fortnight, healthy competition can only be good for both games.

Great game - great community!

I agree, I know 2003 has its faults but its so much fun to play and so editable. I deeply admire all the hard work that patch makers put in and enjoy using the patches, kits and other add ons all year round.
This Fifa, with more real stadia and real faces, I think will capture the excitement and spirit of football. The graphics look great (I think the demo is only a taster) and I can,'t wait to play the full game.
One regret no Ipswich in the Premier League but thats not EA's fault just a bad season but we will be back!!
Once again thanks to all who work hard to make this game a great way to spend a few hours.

Yess, usually I would have calmed down on my FIFA playing by now, but I am still very pleased with this years games and this is only 2 teams AND the Demo!

I am still finding the game difficult, but don't play it like a sad man so that I end up mastering it in a couple of days, besides...it's our different playing styles and that'll be shown in the match-up on-line play this year!!

Can't wait to play some of you guys.

Hmm, I'd like to see a thread, that praises FIFAwithout draging PES/WE into it. Why does this game have to be mentioned? Once you do that you are asking for trouble.

It is not fair, to drag PES into your threads and say that PESers have not right to reply. So here's a tip, for future posters also, try praising FIFA without draging PES/WE into it.

i was making a joke. you may or may not have been able to tell from the facetious nature of my comments. as you're aware, basically every thread in this forum has had a pes'er come in and bash fifa. i am not a pes'er. i am not bashing fifa. by no means did i say pes'ers couldnt comment. it was a joke.

Hey man come on the_man, Han and some of the others are great people. They don’t deserve this kind of an attitude. They never bashed FIFA 2003, all they did was stated their feelings which is fine and respectable.

First of all, I knew you were joking, what made you think my post wasn't even adressed to you? If you know anything about my posting, you will know that when I'm adressing someone, I quote them, so they know. Like I did above. When I don't quote anyone, it is a general comment. That post was adressed to those who start threads, praising FIFA and then mentioning PES.

Read these words carefully. When a thread is made, by someone who supports FIFA, praising FIFA, there is no need to drag PES into it, infact the word shouldn't even appear. Notice I said shouldn't not musn't, i'm not writing rules here, my word is not law, you can do what you want. However, once you do (i.e. mention PES), you just lost the right to complain about "PESers" posting in "your" forum. You understand? I'll elaborate.

We have seen countless other threads (I'm not even refering to this thread specifically) that have been made, saying that FIFA is great, it is better than PES. A PESer says, I beg to differ. And then after that, the next thing they say is, "why do you people (PESers) come in here and post about PES, this is a FIFA forum." Then don't mention PES if you don't want to talk about PES in this forum, that is all I'm saying. I hope I've made myself clear.

Take it or leave it, I won't loose too much sleep over that. All I'm doing is pointing out what happens in this forum and how to prevent further occurances of the nature.

Okay barrytoni, but look at the context with which my post was made. Not mentioning PES is not the point of the post. You can mention it if you want. However, mentioning it and expecting others not to mention it is the heart of what I was saying.

first of all, let me go over what happened. there were posts regarding fifa. 0 regarding pes. then i made a joke mentioning pes. ahh, now we have 1 post mentioning pes. 0 were made after that until you mercifully brought forth your "tip". now, unless you're hallucinating or reading a different version of this thread, the only post you could be referring to is mine. the 1 post mentioning pes before you decided to enlighten our lives with your wisdom. so don't even play that game.

secondly, i haven't lost the right to ****. your logic follows thus:

i have made a joke mentioning pes in one fifa thread, therefore i have lost the right to complain about pes'ers being in this forum. in other words, you're saying, that if i ever. ever, ever, ever mention pes in a thread, without it already having been mentioned by a pes'er, i am in the wrong.

practical purpose translation: only pes'ers are allowed to mention pes. because if a fifa player ever, ever, ever initiates discussion of pes, hey, you'll tip them and tell them not to.

but if a pes'er came here and commented, you know what, thats A-OK. they don't need tips. its bullsh*t, man, if you're even going to pretend that, if a pes'er had come here and said something, you would have "tipped" them to not say anything. no, you wouldn't have bestowed your intelligence on a pes'er and tipped them, because, by you, its ok for a pes'er to come here and start ****, but its NOT ok, for a fifa fan to make a joke mentioning pes in his own god damn forum.

actually i was jsut kidding that your post did mention the word " pes/we" again .. ^^
im a fifa series supporter since 96. and since the world cup 98 , i have been let down by ea almost 4 years..
but this year. it seems that they finally put some effort on the game rather then make small upgrade version like 01 or 02
im happy with the demo and i hope the final game will be great as well...

Yeah, I think I may have been taken out of context when I mentioned PES. I have played it more this year, as it has had the better gameplay, and at the moment, it's the benchmark for football games on any format. But FIFA 2003 looks like it might well be the better this time around (although as all anyone has is the demo, we can't really say for certain until the full game comes out). What might give FIFA the edge this year is that it's sooo customisable, no 2 people in the world will have EXACTLY the same game on their PC's come, say, March, after it's been out a while.

I hope this year's FIFA is better than PES, and I hope PES 2 is a fantastic game too, I don't see why any rivalry exists between the players of 2 computer games.
