Yeah generally most shoes that fit and don't cost $30 are more than comfortable for everyday use..

At the very least, get some cross trainer style runners. It's still using runners as shoes, which they're not, but some decent looking cross trainers can be comfortable and reasonable looking.

Runners are runners for a reason.

Well the complexities of getting those boots have been compounded further by the fact that they wont accept cards from the UK, wont post outside the US and will whack on sales tax to whatever state I order them too, and the fact they are overpriced anyway has resulted in me very reluctantly admitting temporary defeat........ will just have to keep monitoring ebay.

In the mean time, I am bidding on these interim boots which are also Fryes and which are in the UK and will hopefully finish much cheaper, they are to tide me over for a few months til I can get the Wyatt's.



Also bought this coat and waistcoat. I feel my honky tonkin' whiskey guzzling bar brawling liberal hating persona requires more clothes like this...

Does anyone know where I can get a nice grey shawl cardigan for fall that is also affordable? I can't find anything under $100 except at Old Navy which is made from... not natural materials. I still might get it just as a stand in though.

Ahhh, Hollister and Aeropastle, I'll look at those too. H&M has a good cheap one although like Old Navy it's made with almost all synthetic fibers. The one you posted I think looks great except I'm not huge on the pockets. If I owned it I wouldn't care, but when I'm looking at 50 sweaters it's huge.

Here's our guy in one back in the 60s, but his is cashmere and from Drake's and very expensive.

It's funny, before I knew who he was I saw The Great Escape and instead of thinking "McQueen is so cool!" I was more like "who the **** is this guy?" His reputation made him more badass than anything else I think.

EDIT: Yeah, I think I'm going to start channeling McQueen. This is what I've been stumbling towards I think. Athletic/Ivy hybrid. Lot of sweaters, lot of layering, but masculine instead of uptight.

HUH? so yeah nice to meet everyone and I'll see you around and I might have seen you already if you have been in kent, or greenwhich, thamesmead, erith, belvedere, woolwich etc at some time or another, okay goodbye,

I have alerted your post, ZING! That was me tapping the alert button which is a handy device when dealing with chavs and the like, if only there was such a button when I was on the bus on the way home, and these guys kept looking at me, quite intense, so, I got off, pressing that other red button, and that was also like ZING.
