O antigo internacional espanhol Luis Enrique decidiu colocar um ponto final na carreira de futebolista aos 34 anos.

O ex-capitão do Barcelona anunciou a decisão no "site" pessoal, justificando-a com o facto de não poder fazer face aos níveis de exigência impostos pela alta competição.

Luis Enrique foi internacional 64 vezes. No seu currículo constam três campeonatos em Espanha, com o Real Madrid (1994/1995) e com o Barça (1997/1998 e 1998/1999).

The former international Spaniard Luis Enrique decided to bring his football career to an end at 34 years old.

The former-captain of Barcelona announced the decision on his personal website, stating that he could no longer compete at the top flight level.

Luis Enrique earned 64 caps for Spain. He won 3 Spanish championships, with Real Madrid (94/95) and with Barcelona (97-98, and 98/99).

Great player, shame to see him go. Correction, shame to see his qualities slip away from him, so I guess he made the right call. Hate to see ex-glories dragging their bodies on the pitch, playing for small clubs...

I still remember him from his days at Real Madrid, when he played as forward. Thought he'd be greater than what he turned out to be, but still had a fairly good career and a couple monstruous goals!

Figo just left FC Barcelona, as Luis Enrique left R.Madrid but Figo never thrased Barcelona after that. Thats the Difference.

I blame Luis Enrique cause is a piece of sh*t that player 4-5 years in Madrid and after that he said very bad things about Real Madrid , why? cause he was not succesful at all in Madrid

True ,he shouldn't have trashed Madrid ,it's not professional but I like him even more because he said what he felt. :Bow: Hehe.
The difference between them is that Figo's only reason for leaving us is MONEY.Lucho wasn't comfortable in Madrid ,he didn't like it there so he left.At least he isn't a money hunter. ;)

If Figo was offered loads of money to wear the Barca kit again ,he'd do it.Lucho wouldn't wear Madrid's kit.

A traitor for you is a legend for me.But Figo is a whore for all.

Maybe the Madrid fans are bitter because he didn't stay with them, but he was right to leave....judging by how they are handling the Eto'o case, and how they dismissed Hierro and how they treat the rest of the football world in such and arrogant manner I would understand how Luis Enrique would express himself like an honourable man and say his true feelings about Madrid, then try his best to beat them at every opportunity.
Figo....well let's not even talk about that......he follows the money like any good prostitute does.....

Since Luis Enrique left Madrid, Real Madrid won 4 Liga and 3 Champions League

It seems Luis Enrique was cursed, he missed the best years of Barça and Madrid :P
