Madden 2005 or ESPN NFL Football 2k5

I'm thinking of getting an NFL game cos I love playing it. I played Madden 2004 and I enjoyed it so I presume 2005 is even better. But I've heard a lot of good things about ESPN NFL Football 2k5 and it's a lot cheaper too.

So which is the best game, which is the most fun etc.

I played Madden for about three weeks, and it bored me. I haven't played NFL 2k, but I wasn't wowed by Madden. I lost interest pretty quick compared to the previous years. They Franchise Mode seemed cool, but for some reason it just got old quickly.

I haven't heard anything that would put me off of ESPN, and it's got a good price.

I'd go with ESPN. Just because I don't think Madden improved much over last year.

okay

I played Madden 2004 and really enjoyed the game. Got NFL 2K5 about 7 Months later. My opinion, it was tough for me to transition. I was just so used to the layout and controlling scheme. It's technically basic changes in the button layout, but having only played a Madden game when it came to football games, it was an unpleasant change. The play schemes seemed unoriginal, not varied enough and seemed the same from team to team. I just didn't give it a chance though due to my stubborness. I gave it a chance again about a month ago and really stuck it through thick and thin. Now I feel the game is definitely better than Madden. The variety of moves and types of runs you can pull off is quite amazing and look amazingly free flowing, more so than Madden '04. The moves are always varied due to the situation, nullifying that repetive feeling of seeing the same move work in the same manner. They really added some great animations especially in the way and manner you are tackled and dragged down like in real life. Presentation is very TV like, which is very welcoming, with lively commentary to bat, no more stale Madden comments of the obvious. Two thumbs up there in my department, ha, nothing against the guy of course. Anyway. The play schemes add a lot more variety once you learn how to really play and search the playbook. It was great to bust out a flea-flicker on a 1st and 10 after I had been just trouncing the CPU with my run game one time and suddenly busted out the flea, very rewarding feeling to see that baby come down for the big TD! Overall, the game is fun and seems more realistic from where I am sitting when I play the game. It's a great purchase for a LOT of goodies. Basically, I really enjoy the game and will continue playing it for a long while. Great game though.

Thanks lads. Think I'll go for ESPN NFL Football 2k5 then. A lot cheaper and it seems to be equally good, if not better.

It's that simple.

I would never have thought that was true but it is... ESPN 2k5 is awesome (and this comes from a die-hard Madden fan).

The graphics are unrivaled... :rockman:

what's ****ed up is that EA bought the NFL rights out of Visual Concepts so no more NFL2K...unless they make a fantasy-themed one

The 2k series has been better than madden for years. The only bad thing is that Madden is the Fifa of American football. The Madden series has also been newb friendly that's mainly the reason it is so popular.

This year EA has advertize defense as one of their new features. What a joke Ea is, lol. The madden series has been criticize for being to easy and having no cornerback defense on AI. Which has improve some this year meaning more casuals being turned off by it.

If your casual gamer Madden is your game. If you like a complete football game 2k5 for 20 bucks is your pick.
