Saw it on skysports - he wants to play for MLS sometimes next season.

Ok this is just PATHETIC. It's not that I hate USA or anything like that but seriously this is just getting stupid.. its all about money these days - now everyone wants to play for MLS. I don't think its a good thing if USA starts getting football stars and other known players in the modern game - but let them stick with baseball, american football, etc..leave football to europeans/south americans and others who actually enjoy this sport.

oh shut the **** up. hes played on the top level for an incredible amount of time, he has always given his best, why the **** shouldnt he go and finish his career in a more relaxing enviroment? jesus ******* christ...

ofcourse money is one of the main factors why they go. wouldnt you go to work to a job, that would be similar to the one you have now, only to be paid 5 times more, and the job would be alot less stressful?
seriously, think about it. youre being negative about this, while if the same happened to you, you'd accept it in a heartbeat.

Players already wear tights if they want, Adebayor does it every month but May-August.

And if those clubs pony up the cash yes, those players would go there.

ok maybe i didn't clearify why im upset. Seems like USA will control the football market and one day most if not all players will come and play in the American league. This could give USA enough power to start their own game ideas i.e changing things, changing rules - putting their own stamp on this beautiful game. Do any of you remember how USA (MLS) used to take their PK's.. ?? More half of the planet was doing the way its supposed to be done.. what they did was having a ball 20 meters from the goal..having one striker run with the ball and go 1 on 1 versus the keeper... how fu*ked up is that man ??

So my whole point is what if USA becomes the biggest puzzle when it comes to football and if they start to own everyone.. number of things could change that will put this legendary sport in jeopardy...

the irony of this post is that the MLS has been getting ever more european each year. as you mentioned, when it was started, league officials tried several things to "make the game more interesting." the only one of those things that has survived all eleven years is the playoff format, and even that's taken a lot of flack from fans and been reformatted over time.
also, if it makes you feel better, MLS officials met with Bundesliga officials this winter to discuss how to run a globally competitive league. so I doubt if they're planning on trying anything revolutionary.

^ Like mentioned, the USA isn't trying to change things, they're becoming more like Europe in terms of Football. They simply want to make their league higher quality so that the fans will be even more interested. And, if something like you mention was to happen, it would take many, many years.
