Man Utd vs Chelsea [P] + [R]

Secondly, are Chelsea the new plastic side? Their players seem plastic (note Lampard's badge kissing, and euphoric 'we've won the title' celebration at the end), but the fans are worse. They obviously took Bates' 'we want to be the Man Utd of the South' literally. The Mutu chant, etc.

But more prominent is the amount of 'new' fans Chelsea have since the summer. In the pub yesterday there must've been at least 5 Chelsea shirts. I think I've only ever seen 1 in the pub before and that was only occasionally (and to wear a shirt to the pub on a match day  :crazyboy: ) Then you notice that they had their highest attendance against us. I guess 'you've only come to see United' holds more substance than just a chant to get a rise out of the opposition. You may notice that United's highest attendances come when we're 'struggling', and need results and support (even though every game's a sell out).

-anyone BUT a Man Utd can call Chelsea fans glory hunters. Look at your own so called fans first.

-chant? what are you talking about.

- attendance has been about the same for every match I've seen. Im going by the number they show during EPL matches. Its always been 41,000+ in the 8 or so matches that have been shown here.

-the match wasnt really close. Man Utd did next to nothing and Howard saved the club some face or it was going to be far worse. Look at how many big saves he made.

Thought it might cause a bit of a stir with a few people. :p

I think when you have a few supporting your club then you can spot them a mile off, and your team has a large proportion of plastic fans now. :)

wft? Which one? The Mutu one (Muuutuu = blatent rip-off of Ruuuuud)? Get your own chants ya whitless cock-er-nees.

Sky Sports proclaimed that your attendance yesterday was the highest for 17yrs, fact.

I can name you 3 shots which came close from Chelsea, Lampards which grazed the post, Melchiots which was straight at Howard, and the one at the end after Howard mis-controlled a catch then saved it from the shot.

United had a few but they didn't come as close. Diego at the start, Cudicini almost fluffed it. Ruud's turn which went for a corner, Ronaldo's long range effort which Cudicini had to turn wide.

Fact is Chelsea were clinging on at the end, and we clung on for the last 10mins-15mins of the 1st half. Other than that it was 50-50 imo. So 50-50 + 15mins dominance each is about 50-50 all round. Chelsea created the better chances though, I'll give you that but as far as a game goes it was hardly a dominant display. Could've easily been a draw, and a pen is all the seperated the two teams.

ya, very creative to say the players first name. Chelsea will forward a fee to Man Utd for this copyright infringment. This is like Mexican clubs asking everyone else to stop doing the Mexican wave. Milan fans used to do the same thing when Ruud Gullit played there, so what do you say about that?

Im sure it was, im just saying it was highest by a couple hundred.

Fact is, is was only for the last 10 minutes. Where was Man Utd for the rest of the 80 mins? When a team is down by a goal, its pretty much expected that they will control the play at the end of a match when we are talking about clubs at an equal level.

both bbc and sky's site say Chelsea created much more and Man Utd. showed up just at the end, essentially.

I hope you were being scarcatic. I can point to teams in other countries who have done the player chant like that dating back a good while.

i dun know what you meant by the match not being close, in that case, arsenal's 2-1 win over chelsea was an easy match for arsenal and chelsea played badly,

wake up man, any match won by one goal is a close match, besides lampard, i dun see any chelsea player looking for a goal, man u were lacking confidence, especially forlan when he robbed the ball from carlo(another blunder?), he might have taken a shot but he layed it off, in the last few minutes, the man utd of old emerged and chelsea were panicking, ranieri changed his formation to defend,

Yer pick me up, and get serious, on my jokiest point, put in to get a reaction. :) (Hopefully that answers your question too ljungburg ;) - and to embelish a bit more, not long ago Bates said he wanted Chelsea to be the Man Utd of the South)

Never said any different, but a couple of hundred is still a considerable amount of extra supporters (not in terms of percentage, but at £49 a ticket...)

I never disagreed that Chelsea created more chances, but to say the dominated the game is a bit ambitious. Listen to what your man Ranieri said, the only person associated with the club that actually talks sense.

Where were United for the other 70mins (I think it was about the last 20mins, not 10 that we were the better team - but still...), that's what I'd like to know. As a threat we were almost non-existant, but we were doing okay. Chelsea had a few chances, but not that many. We weren't doing much though.

Showed up at the end, with a penalty. :D

I think the game was very even, both teams deserved something. Chelsea were lucky to get all three points, but again they deserved something.

Keanes tackle was rash, Cole was moving away from goal and he was off balance, he should have used his experience and jockeyed him....

The season is still young, we are 4 points off the top with all the big teams having played each other....

Youth Team
good game....

it was a great game..... Ranieri was the better manager on the day...and Fergie paid for NOT having enough world class players in his team IMO......

ive always thought that the likes of Forlan..Fortune..Phil nev...and Silvestre aren't the players that a team the size and ambition of man utd would need to rely on...they're only squad players who are limited in the big games....

Forlan was awful really and fortune was useless....when C.Ronaldo and Kleberson came on man utd were on their way to a goal...if it wasnt for Forlan being not fast enough..not aggressive enough..and not lethal enough....thats a Man U Player im talkin about!!

on the other hand i dont think Chelsea have made a statement either... i feel their team still needs a leader and has a long way to go to be a Man Utd or an Arsenal.... 2 wingers and a striker in the second half and man utd were controlling the game!!

C.Ronaldo showed that he's effective and not only skillfull with no use ( like Denilson lol ) and kleberson is definetely a great addition once he settles in the team...

i hoped newcastle and Liverpool would mount a serious challenge for the title so that we have a great season... but it seems that its between man u and Arsenal again this year...

cheers

Not for one second do I believe Chelsea made a "statement".

Once you beat us at Old Trafford in open-play, then you can make your statement. :ewan:

it's never nice to lose a match but i dont think it's a big deal and therefore i dont give a **** about it.

1. the season is still early
2. chelsea are really a good team, we used to lose to them 0 - 5 when they didn't even have so many good players. so there is no reasons for me to be overly dissapointed about the result
3. i didn't expect us to win the EPL at the beginning of the season anyway

another thing, while everyone is blaming Chelsea's unlimited spending power, i 'd like to say this is perhaps the best thing ever happened to the EPL. look at what English teams achieved in CL in recent years, nothing! since manutd won it in 99 only Leeds and ManUtd managed to get to the semi-finals. i believe Chelsea will ultimately improve the overall quality of EPL with their import of world-class players.:)

Starting XI
Chelsea are a good team, but there is a long way to go, they have been beaten already this season, and i predict they will be beaten again, they have been outplayed on a number of occasions, ie blackburn and Aston Villa at the Bridge.

Chelsea still have to go to Old Trafford on May 8th

and there is the little matter of Arsenal who have world class players everywhere, and now seem to have found defensive depth and stability to go with there un doubted and unrivaled attacking style.

I think Chelsea are playing a similar style to what manchester united like to play but, they miss beckham and Scholes, and will lose Two more creative players in ronaldo and Giggs for a few matches.

I think Manchester united will be around, Chelsea will be there and so will arsenal, i cant see chelsea running away with it

Far from it

Arsenal and Man Utd have also been less than impressive is a few matches also. The top 3 are on equal terms so far. Nothing has suggested one club is better than the other.

Howard MIGHT not have made one of those saves, so who cares what Forlan MIGHT have done. The score was close yes but I was talking about the flow of the match. Tell BBC and Sky that the match was even, because thats not what their reports say.

copy n paste : :p
