Manager Mode First Impressions

So I wanted to find out what everyone thinks of it.

I have 2 big gripes:

1) How can you check predicted growth? It seems like there is no way to see if a player you have or are considering on buying will get much better.
2) Sometimes my players have been sold against my will. I was managing Man Utd and Rooney and Nani were sold completely against my will. The computer sold them for me, and below their value.

growth i dont know, make sure you have everything in career mode set to manual.

Maybe you play as player, not as manager.
Luckly this year we can edit career setting more in-depth than last year

No, I'm definitely playing as a manager. How do I change my settings so that only I can sell players? I think I looked through all of the menus in Manager Mode and couldn't come up with anything.

First impressions? ****YEAHHHHHHHH!!!! Loads of transfers, very cool UI, youth academy.

But one thing: Thanks EA, we can't use youth scouts in Hungary!!!!
Okay, two things: Can you go to Europe in first season? Sorry, didn't had much time to test.

You cannot go to Europe your first year. You can create your own UEFA CL and import it into career mode, but that's it.

Is that via the creation centre, foozballguy? Thanks for that info, btw.

EDIT: checked it out, you have to pay for everything in ****in' creation centre. ****in' EA, doesn't put in European football in the first year and then makes you pay to make it yourself. WTF is that?


About transfers not being made by you: make sure you read all your mail, that's all I can think of. I haven't had any transfers made without me approving it.


I also simmed a full season to have European football, and damn, there were a lot of stupid transfers. Lavezi and Kaka to Chelsea was ok, but Yaya Touré to Milan and Higuain to Lazio, that's just stupid. I hope this will be resolved. Otherwise: brilliant managermode.

Well, Rooney did say he wanted to leave and the board told me that they wanted me to sell Rooney, so I can see the board stepping in to get rid of Rooney, but Nani NEVER said anything about wanting to leave nor did the board make an indication that they wanted to get rid of him. I just don't understand.

Also, is there seriously no way to figure out what a player's growth potential is within the game itself? That makes it absolutely insane to sign any young player because you have simply no idea what their growth might be. I miss the section of FIFA 10 where you got the bargraph that mapped their growth potential.

@ foozballguy: just make an assumption based on rating, age and price. A young guy with an avarege rating but a high price will surely be a big talent.

About your Nani; maybe his contract was almost over?

Nani had 4 years remaining.

And that's kind of annoying because now you can never discover "gems," which as a smaller club you have to do.
