Managing 5* teams

Is it possible to manage a 5* team through manager mode? Basically can I start out at a crap club, make them really good, get loads of prestige and then manage a quality side?

I've asked on the official FIFA forums and I was told I had to unlock the career teams unlock. But surely I can do it without this, just by playing realy well and getting loads of prestige?

I'm not too sure about that, but it seems like you do have to unlock these teams first. But once you unlock them they do appear in your previously saved career as well, you don't have to start another career to be able to play with a big team.

I spent loads of credits yesterday when I could have unlocked this.

I think that's a load of rubbish personally.

Can I win something again and still get credits for it?

It's a freaking nightmare managing 5 star teams. I managed Man Utd, was 2nd in the league after 17 games (only lost 3 games and tied 2), was still in the league and FA cup but still got fired - mid-season!!!

Admittedly I was about 9,000 in debt but they sacked me straight after beating Arsenal 2-1.

Bastards!

Now I'm managing Preston North End - they love me there!

You don't have to unlock the 5*teams! Just a little in-game cheat:
Change the starting line-up from the 5* team you like & field all 2nd string players (reserves). So eg field ManUTD reserves & subs & leave the likes of Rooney & VNistelrooy out of the starting 11. This way the overall value of the starting 11 will drop to 4* or lower, meaning you can pick them to start your career with!!
I did it with Roma & it worked!!!
If even your reserves are too good, try transfering some nobodies that you'll eventually start. You can sell them again once you've started manager-mode.

Not really, but you can get the points by completing some of the individual challenges. There are loads, some are quite easy to complete, such as the fair play and scenario ones. I got my 5000 points that way :)

So if I get 5000 points, unlock the career teams unlock, finish my season with Betis on the list I'll be able to choose Liverpool?

Yeah, that's right. But you should have nice prestige level to choose L'pool. Cause otherwise you'll get crappy sponsors and have to sell star players not to go into debt cause growing debt gets you sacked no matter the results.

Ok well I'm currently prestige level 6 about 10 games into the season, assuming I win the Spanish League that should got up at least once again so 7?

What I don't get though is that I started a new career to see what sponsorship is available and it's pretty much (I chose the second most per game both times) exactly the same as when I have 1 prestige to when I have 5! Perhaps this will change.

Anyway, it doesn't matter about star players as the AI has pretty much sold them all for me.

If i play with a strong team(JUVE for example) then every match i play money is going less cause players salary is so big and i cant get so much money from tickets or game bonus. What should i do?
