Some of you misunderstood what i wrote.
I'm definitely not against smaller clubs getting a chance.
As long as they go for players that are available to buy like Robinho was i will have noting against them. (Inflating prices isn't fair but Ok, some players will still go to some clubs just because they dreamt of playing for them since they were kids, and will not go for the money)
But **** if City start bidding over €150 mil for any of Torres, Ronaldo, Fabregas, Ronaldinho (?!?=!?!) or Kaka' someone's gonna have to die! That will be the downfall of football, but then again Calderon is doing the same with Kaka' and Ronaldo, so it's not like it's a new thing, but if this becomes a trend, for me then football will lose it's charm. Especially if players do succumb to those big money offers.

But that's just it it's down to the players and thank God there are still some players that don't put money in the first place.
City should IMO go for players like Diego, Huntelaar even Villa if they become available in the future, that's football.

I just hope Ben-Haim makes a name for himself when Ferdinand, Vidic and the likes arrive at the club.

Those were the first two names to come to mind, don't harp about it.

No worries, just reinforces the fact that they are the best defensive partnership in the world ;)

Only when Justin Hoyte and Phillipe Senderos can't play together.

(God what a nightmare...)

You didn't piss us off, but surely pissed of Chelsea! Can't hate on that.

Find me one Chelsea fan on here who is pissed off with City. You can't, because believe it or not we are happy to see more competition in the EPL, as opposed to United fans who would like to see less competition.

The more clubs who can break the stranglehold that the "old boys club" has had over the national league and in Europe over the last 50 years the better.

And yes the Man City thing has definately pissed off the Mancs more than anyone. The rest of us know it. You as an individual might not care so much, but your fan base in general have very similar warped opinions as Mikey has over this.

haha, Scolari? You got my quote from the post referring to City hijacking Chelsea's Robinho bid, rather than United's Berbatov bid, i wasn't talking about owners with big money, big ideas, buys etc. I'm pretty sure that Chelsea owners are quite dissapointed that they failed to sign Robinho.

Nope. Kenyon told Roman he needed 4 million quid more to beat the City bid and Roman said " No fu<kin' way comrade".

Roman said at the beggining of last season that Chelsea will not be held to ransom over transfer fees, and the refusal to pay UnReal Madrid the over inflated price that they wanted for Robinho, was the right thing to do. You will not find many people at Chelsea disagreeing with that decision. Maybe Kenyon but he's a Manc prick so he doesn't count. :)

Yeah but had City not came in with this improved bid, Chelsea would have had Robinho instead for those 4 million quid less, right? Sure Roman felt like he would be overspending on the player, but he and many other Chelsea affiliates must have felt dissapointed that City came out of nowhere, offered more money for the player Chelsea has been working so hard to get for 2 month and signed him right under their noses. The price wasn't right, but it was City's fault still.

I think the case is that Abramovich knew whatever he offered City would just top it. He isn't stupid. Financially, strange as it may seem, he can't compete with these guys from Abu Dhabi. He also knew they were determined to at least get someone big to make some kind of splash before the window slammed shut.
Abramovich did the right thing walking away from the deal.

Well of course he would have been a Chelsea player if City didn't come in for him, that much is obvious. I guess people at Chelsea were dissapointed and surprised that City came in for him at such a silly price, but if they wanted him that badly then they are welcome.

We had been thrashing out a deal for a few weeks sure, but when UnReal Madrid kept upping the anti, Roman said " Fu<k 'em". We would have got him at our price had City not come in for him, but we will not pay over the top anymore. That has been the case for some time now, which is why Jose began sulking.

Chelsea do not bear City any grudges over this hi Carlos though, as much as you would like to think they do. Thats business mate.

Bleh, so we didn't get Robinho, Scolari will be a little pissed for a while, and in Jan we'll get someone else. Big deal. We have a deep squad, and enough quality to be at the top.

So long as City don't blindside us at every turn, I'm fine.

They probably will for a while Az, just like we did, but once the club are up and running and they have their players in place it will all slow down in time.

We spent madly when Roman first arrived, but this summer we bought only 2 players. See what I mean.

I personally think many City fans would have preferred to pull one over on United (i.e. the Berbatov deal). It seems the signing of Robinho wasn't actually a matter of REALLY wanting him (something that does actually concern me), but a statement of intent from the owners saying there was a new kid on the block (hence the Berbatov, Villa, Gomez, Torres stuff at the same time). And the stuff about Fabregas, C ROnaldo etc. ios just PR nonsense, trying to destabilise the big clubs and giving them the fingers through the media really.

Guess we know where Arshavin is going.

Wouldn't be surprised if these guys will just watch the Euro again and sign all the stars. Or bid for them at least. Maybe some players won't come but guys like Senna (who might actually be a bad example because of his love for Spain) might be finding a home at Manchester in no time.
