Southampton XI: Stekelenburg, Yoshida, Fonte (c), van Dijk, Targett, Wanyama, Romeu, Ward-Prowse, Tadić, Mané, Pellè

Subs: Davis, Cedric Soares, Long, Davis, Rodriguez, Martina, Juanmi

Man United XI: De Gea, Darmian, Smalling, Rojo, Blind, Carrick, Schneiderlin, Mata, Memphis, Rooney, Martial

Subs: Romero, McNair, Valencia, Herrera, Schweinsteiger, Young, Fellaini

Martial and Rooney both start. Rooney as the supporting striker I suppose.

any cross is equal to goal against this defense ... LVG last sub was completely out of arrogance ...

Before the resident Man Utd faggots start crying and moaning and shouting let me quickly point out that a) you have now a striker that can score and b) and away win at Southampton is an excellent result and one you should be very happy with

Martial..what a waste of money. 3 goals in 2 epl games isn't good enough (SARCASM)

Nah, Martial is such a calm, composed striker in front of goal. Proving haters wrong and has such a confident aura with him. Will score a lot more this season.

He's spectacular.

Gonna single handedly save United season and win United the title within 3 years.

He has had a great start and I hope this continues but he was not really "spectacular". He showed great composure for the first goal. The second one was gifted but again, was a composed finish.

It was not a great performance especially from the defense but yes I agree, there are lots of positives to take. Southampton is tough to beat and this win brings us at second place just behind City.

It is too early to say that Martial will be a consistent goalscorer but his goalscoring has been a relief and I hope it continues.

I thought Rooney played well. I think he should play # 10 because he has lost his sharpness in front of goal and speed. He has the skillset to play # 10 which is where he has played most of his career.

I prefer to think of the correct position for Rooney as the old-style 'supporting striker' role rather than the more modern 'number 10' notion - he should be Bergkamp to Martial's Henry.

Probably but these days he is better playing deeper (but obviously not central midfield) because he has become slow and has lost his sharpness.

Mata's goal btw came from 44 passes. Barcelona fans would jerk to that.

Isn't this is how Van Gaal's Ajax and Barca teams of the past used to play? LVG is starting to get a foothold on the speed of the Premier League.
