What do you expect them to do when playing against the champions? Up their game of course. But TBH Birmingham have been impressive for the last 3 months managing a draw with Chelsea as well. They have been playing consistently well against all teams. Not just us.

That's impressing but I don't respect that. That's anti-football in my dictionary.

I hate the fact that we always play so disappointing at World Cup year.

Yes tactics can contradict with the beauty of football, but it wins games and thats all what matters for these teams. Although its damn frustrating to watch.

So the Glazers are apparently majorly screwing us over. And with us issuing $500 million in bonds could put even more strain on the clubs freedom, considering that the bondholders will have to get a lot of the attractive features from the deal, since our bonds would be so damn risky.

Even with the Ronaldo money we made only 41.8 million profit. WTF?? Where's all that money going? I can't understand that.

Where has the EPL and World club championship prize money gone? How about the UCL money? The Glazers are just money minded cu*nts who don't give a sh*t about the club. Thats very bad news guys. No wonder why Fergie is reluctant in buying new players now.

EDIT: Van Der Sar's back in training finally. His wife recovered apparently. Good news.

Sir Alex Ferguson will be handed £75million to spend on new players by Manchester United's owners in a bid to haul the club out of its financial crisis.

The Glazers have borrowed the money and will give it straight to Fergie to spend on his squad in a bid to encourage investors to buy £500m-worth of bonds.

United's owners have taken the decision to increase their borrowing as they attempt to make the bonds more attractive to potential investors.

They believe the scheme will have more chance of succeeding - and bringing down their overall level of debt - if Fergie is able to strengthen his squad with big-name signings.

The Glazers' re-financing plan involves a bonds issue to ease the debt burden which is threatening to cripple the club.

But United's owners have also entered into a new credit facility to raise £75m to be used as 'working capital' – a transfer fund for Fergie.
Manchester United will hand Sir Alex Ferguson a £75million transfer kitty to buy big names and boost bond sale scheme - MirrorFootball.co.uk

and so the speculation begins...

Isn't the yearly interest alone 100m?

Spending 75m! That's a great way to pay off 500m!

Pretty much. That 75 million will most likely have a terrible interest rate compared to the current LIBOR rate

True. However, too much "tactics" is the reason why Serie A is so boring. Even "thrillers" that end 4-3 in the Italian league are a pain to watch.
To be honest, I think it is also unfair to the fans who not only want to see their team win, but are paying (whether it's stadium tickets or cable subscriptions) to witness a great, entertaining spectacle.
I love watching Manchester United play and win. However, as a fan, I won't be pleased if we're constantly scraping matches 1-0 and hanging on till the end with anti-football tactics.

I agree and thats the reason I don't watch Serie A anymore... Nothing entertaining about it. And I HATE it when United plays this way. I find it unacceptable for teams in the caliber of United to play like that.

However, for teams like Birmingham, Fulham, Stoke etc, sometimes the only way to earn points is to play these sorts of tactics. True its not nice to watch, but the points are more important to them (especially for teams in the relegation battle) than playing beautiful football. Besides, notice that most of these fans seem to be enjoying whenever they win or draw against us. For these teams, the win is more important than the entertainment.

Hm, I didn't hear United fans complaining back when they were buying their championship teams. :clapwap:

I don't like the sound of 75 mil to spend. What if we end up with another waste of money like Berbatov? Its a risk we can't really afford with the interest and then there would be an even greater need to win titles just for the money.

I think we need to sell in order to buy realistically. Perhaps trimming the squad a bit as well. Any of Berbatov, Nani and Tosic could be sold to raise cash for a new signing in the summer, but I can't see anyone major being sold. Maybe Vidic might be taken by Barca or Real but that was only speculation.

well i hope those tevez bashers and owen supporters are watching. Whoever still thinks owen is better than tevez is deluded. We could do with him right now. Anyway past is past.

The financial situation is pretty worrying at the moment and so are our performances on the pitch. Well burnley next and hope we return the favour.

United used money generated by the club (mercahndise etc) - and the spine of our title winning sides were actually either home grown (Beckham, Giggs, Scholes, Neville) or bought for buttons (Keane, Bruce, Pallister, Schmeichel, Kanchelskis, Cantona) We never had a Carlos Walker, or Roman Abramovich come in and throw money at us.

United never asked for this debt, and we never spent over our means either (like Leeds) The debt is purely down to the Glazers not having the money upfront to buy the club. That's why it's unfair, but because United are so universally envied, other fans can't see through their glee at the downfall.

Oh and the Sun is saying Wazza might be next

I dont get it... he great because he scores a hat trick vs blackburn? Theres no deneying hes a talented player, but hes has all the same talents as rooney. Better to have a mix.

Not too mention his last season with us in which he played more minutes then the average striker but did bugger all. Perhaps you can blame it on his mind set etc what ever the reason its better to have a mixture of players and skills then clones.

But anyway it doesn't matter, he's gone and that's that.

The Glazers were in serious debt to the tune of $700 million before they bought the club while Manchester United PLC had $100 million in debt on its own. Put the 2 together and that is nearly $1billion in debt.

The Glazers bought the club with the banks money essentially to help pay off the massive debt they transferred to the club when they bought us as well as the loan, thats why the interest is so high and thats why the debt has hardly subsided.

For a club that generates $2-300million each year to make a profit of only $40 million based on the Ronaldo deal shows how deep in it these guys have put us. I can't see it getting any better moneywise until 2019 unless we have investment from somewhere else. That I can't see happening either as no one really likes to pay off anothers debt but that is what anyone investing in the club now is essentially doing, payin of the Glazer's debt they transferred to the club and the loan that bought us!

Seriously have you been watching United play?? The mix is not working,as touchy as Berbatov is he is not UNITED CLASS and does not suit our style of play, as an editor on goal.com said 'Berbatov's small fanbase is dwindleing further with each game'.

Dont go on about tevez last season as everyone knows a player/striker with confidence is miles ahead of one without. Tevez had loads of confidence in first season with us and he has loads of it now.
