A perfect response to midweek and a great set up for Arsenal next week. Actually having two wide midfielders and Fletcher playing in a 4-4-2 makes the world of difference. The tactic at Burnley was just terrible and Fletcher was missing. But we are back to scoring, the defense just needs to sort a few things out and in general we are starting to look better.

Scoreline suggests so.

A flattering result for us. Frankly, not a commanding performance, and we have to really pull up our game if we have to get something out of the Arsenal game next week.

Star performers were Rooney, Vidic and Fletcher. Vidic was strong and robust as always. Fletcher was there all around the park and could have got us a goal as well. Rooney was simply amazing and always looked likely to be our scorer. I like his first goal as it was a true strikers goal. Hope he maintains this streak. He was almost unstoppable, and I sincerely hope that is the case against arsenal, as well.

Michael Owen took his goal really well. If he remains fit then he can surely hit 15-20 for us this season. But the point is will he get the service. Owen's goal brought a genuine smile to my face, seen that sort of effortless finishing since a long long time. :)

Nani and Valencia were aweful in the first half..Valencia hardly saw anything of the ball. Nani as always dribbles a shade too much. Berbatov was good, had some good chances, and some few good touches as well and if he performs like this every week, then nothing like it.

Honestly, if Berbatov, Nani and Valencia play the way they played in the 2nd half today, then Michael Owen could win his first English league title after 13 years in top-flight football..

07-08 - 3 games = 3 points ( finished 1st)

08-09 - 3 games = 4 points (

09-10 - 3 games = 6 points (
finished ??)

Glory Glory Man Utd!

EDIT: Congrats to Rooney for his 100th Goal.

Imo Rooney should be 100 millions, brilliant player.
F*ck off manure.Yes i watched the match and i'd call Rooney is the motm ... a close second was Berbatov, once again you're underrating Berba's classy performance ... is joy to watch his touches and if you think he was part of half of the goals ...

I hope Fergie doesn't pay them for this performance. We won't win the title like this - and frankly we don't deserve to.

We will finish out of the top 4 this season, mark my words.

Dear Madrid: can we please, please have Cristiano back?

We'll probably struggle to get points from Wigan this weekend and Arsenal will surely beat us next weekend.

Meanwhile Chelsea are never going to lose a game again.

There had better be a backlash coming for this - this is unacceptable. I'm beyond furious.

Safe to say utd out of title race.

If you don't Believe in United and Sir Alex, don't dare to call yourself United Fans.

We played really shambolic today but I'm sure Sir Alex will work on this team's weakness and they'll play better in future. Let Believe.

We know what needs to be done. We will bounce back.

It's just the 2nd game. Stop whining.

Ronaldo is gone (and didn't we miss him today !!) and there are plenty of young players in the team now. Lets give them so time. I can already hear the mirth flowing from our opponents...but we can always say to them we are the reigning champions something which they cannot argue against.

No big deal. Its still early season, things like this usually happen to Utd for some reason.
Utd usually hit form once they get a string of good results together.(or by Christmas)

Beckham, Ruud, Cantona, Ince, Hughes, Kanchelskis etc all left at some point but we still came out on top. Players come and goes, but the team still remains Man Utd.

Go learn about Man Utd history for god's sake. You don't seem to have a clue about SAF and Man Utd's history
.

sigh...I remember half the United supporters on this forum writing us off at the beginning of last season as well :clapwap:...We've only played 2 games!

I’m not going to criticize any of you for your comments, it’s football and your comments and emotions are understandable. But it’s so unfair to condemn Sir Alex and United team after few matches. Sir Alex is one of the greatest part of United History and we should trust him as always.

This 5-0 victory was great and was a good response to poor show against Burnley but we can’t draw any conclusion yet. Rooney, Berba, Valencia and especially Nani (God he improved a lot), Vidic and Evra played very well. It was good to see Evans with more responsibility, Scholes and Fletcher played better in second half but we should improve a lot in that part of the field. Nevile’s display was respectable as well. I’m so glad that Owen scored; he removed lots of pressure from his shoulders.

The last thing that I wana say my United mates is: we should Believe

There’s a long way forward for this season, I BELIEVE that we can achieve so many great things.
Man United will neverrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr eveeeeeeeeeeeer DIE

BELIEVE

looks like I won my bet of owen scoring within the next 3 games (Y) did anyone take my bet?:innocent_smile_1:

Were looking good and playing better then last season. depending on how we do next game I may be as bold to say our style is better then when we had ronaldo. The play is more free flowing instead of everything going through one player. But I wont say that yet :innocent_smile_1:

I'd also say bring on the arse but i'm looking forward more too the city game...

Glad to see the form back and the play on second half/goals from 3 strikers (Especially the goal of owen after 7 months (Y)). Now looking forward to next game vs Arsenal. And **** to the bitches who predicted Man Utd will suck with Berbatov and without more buy. It is time to test our ability.

and Rooney may sign a new contract soon though he still has 3 years left. It will be about £105,000 to £150,000(As Terry, Lampard, 3 guys in Citeh-Robinho, Tevez, Adebayor)is the top of Primier League's weekly wage. I guess this season will be Rooney's season.

Mr. 1 Game in 15 Months is also on a higher-paid contract than Rooney.

EDIT: Also, Terry is on a £120,000 p/w contract, not £150,000. Lampard is Chelsea's only player on that salary.

I think my comments were fair, if United played the way they did against Burnley they won't win the title - also I hoped for a backlash because the Burnley performance was unacceptable. I said we missed Nani - we did.

Yesterday, we got one helluva backlash. I can only go on MOTD highlights but we started better than we did on Wednesday, though rode our luck a bit in the first half - Then we exploded in the second. Rooney was excellent, he's much better in the air than people give him credit for, Berba's goal was genius (even if the finish was scuffed) and Owen took his goal very clinically. Foster was much better in goal, and Nani scored a great freekick.

Yesterday, United showed they can play to their best without CR, and we'll only get better as key personnel return. I must admit, I'm a bit concerned about Scholsey - he seems a shadow of his former self at the moment.

If we play like the second half yesterday - we certainly CAN win the title.

I think one of our problems at the moment is at midfiled (in classic 4-4-2). Nani, Valencia, Rooney and Berba are great. Scholes and Fletcher are not cosistent duing games, Fletcher is lot better but sometimes he doen't think well.

Am i the only one who thinks fletcher was outstanding against wigan? ..He has improved tremendously over the past 2 seasons. He's gonna be big player for us this season.

^ You are not the only one. In Fact, you are in the majority I'd guess.

Fletcher is a Key Player for us this season. No doubt about that. And maybe It would have been different If he was there in the UCL Final last season. Who knows...
