Gutted for O'Shea, he's become a top player. Although looking at it positively at least it isn't a central defender. Just hope we have a good backline come the Milan game, otherwise they'll cut us down again. Playing away first helps though.
Going back to what I said the other day about us not having a player in the middle of the park that joins the attack enough, would Cleverley be worth a go? He's doing well with Watford and seems quite creative in the middle. I know he's quite young still but I think he could work in there. Anderson was meant to be more of an attacking player but I don't know, just doesn't seem to do that now.

I know injuries are a part of the game, but it seems like we are absolutely plagued by defensive injuries every year. I mean just a ridiculous amount of injuries.
It's like going into every season we can for sure count on every single one of our defenders missing at least a month of action at some point.
Neville was injured for like 3 years (obviously I'm exaggerating, but you get my point) and Hargeaves, well, he's been gone so long I'm not even sure he's still in the team. He could be dead for all we know.

He seems to be an out-and-out striker a bit in the mould of Saha or Cole. Something we've been missing for a long time. Lets hope he'll prove himself for us. He's seems to be the type of striker suitable for the EPL. hope he keeps it up and scores more goals for the first team.
Hey there Fellas, just wanted to stop by and commend you guys for being the best community here at SG. I dont post much anymore because the Madrid thread turned into a joke, but I do come often to read your posts as a collective. I dont like Man United but you guys make it enjoyable!. hahahahahahaha good one! do any of u guys know the status of ben arfa, akinfeev, milos krasic? there was a lot of transfer rumors going on, but they have seemed to stop? also, do u think SAF will buy this january? obviosly we need a poacher striker, but david villa and aguero seem too expensive.... any suggestions as to who to buy to improve our squad?

Like I said before, creativity is the main thing lacking in the team. We have some good defensive midfielders but what we need is a playmaker. Look at our rivals: Liverpool have Gerrard, Chelsea have Lampard and Arsenal have Cesc etc. All the top teams in the modern game need someone in the middle to drive the team forwards. Players who come to mind are Gourcuff, Modric etc. Not gonna happen though.
And I feel we need a good striker to partner Rooney. Someone good at headers and with good finishing because Rooney is not an out-and out striker. He's more of a supportive striker who likes to track back and help in midfield unlike the likes of Torres, Drogba etc. He gives something different to the team.
However I'm sure thats too much to ask... Considering the huge debt that the Glazers have put us in. Lets hope we get lucky like in 1992 and get some of the kids emerging in the first team. Highly unlikely though. We haven't produced quality players for YEARS now. Last players coming from our academy are: Fletcher in 2003 and O'Shea in 2001. Where has the rest gone? I remember Richardson, David Jones, Chadwick had all been dubbed to become the next Giggs, Scholes or Beckham. Shame that there's a HUGE lack of young talents in English football right now.

i think what we need is a poacher, someone like Van Nisterooly or higuian, (im sure benzema is kicking himself for signing with RM instead of MU )
the first striker that comes to my mind is Edin Dzeko, hes a very good striker and hes also great in the air...i completely agree with you that we need a tall striker, because valencia can cross, its just that there is no one to put the ball in the back of the net...rooney and owen are fairly small, and berbatov has got the height, its just that he doesnt know how to use it...imagine if we had gotten adebayor in the summer? it would have been a great signing cause as well know, adebayor is a beast in the air! anyways, i hope diouf gets more time, he looks like a great signing and seems to be able to run and jump, unlike berbatov
as for our midfield, i really felt we should have gone after sneijder, hes great at set pieces and can push forward and help out rooney, gourcuff could have also fit this role....i really like how fletcher has turned out as a holding midfielder, and valencia is proving to be a great signing, causing SAF to once again play the wings, otherwise other than that, our midfield is very average
as for our defense, i am worried that vidic might leave, and with ferdinhand having injury problems, i really feel we should go after chiellini...evans is coming along well, but we need more help defensively
as for goalkeeper, i really like Van Der Sar, but i feel his days his is gonna retire this season...kuzkack is good, and he has come up big for us, but i feel that SAF doesnt trust him enough and Ben Foster just needs to leave

do you guys not hold much hope for this new lad Diouf? Will be a cracker if he turns out like Ole. Scored almost every game he's played for us so far. I hope he doesn't become another manucho, dong, etc.
If we had to buy a midfeilder I'd rather get someone british like James Milner. There again I'd like to see villa do well, not going to happen if everyones buying there star players.
