great to see some very fair posts from members in this thread ... credit to you guys ... was a bit of an ordeal having to listen to andy gray for 90+ minutes ... but watching it on HDtv + hearing the crowd on surround sound left me with no other choice ...

a red card for Rio in the first half, and one more goal scored from the many created by Milan would have sewn up the match at 2-0 ... as it turns out, Milan paid for their misses ... it is not over with the second leg still to come, but a 1 goal lead plus 3 away goals is a big advantage ...

I didn't understand that Carrick second booking. Evra made the tackle and Carrick gets the booking? WTF. So who's gonna play for the 2nd leg now? Gibson? I don't think Anderson will play very soon.

If Anderson doesn't play in the next leg, then I seriously doubt he has a future at United.

Jonny Evans was awful tonight, but the rest of the lads were excellent in the second half, Valencia totally changed the game when he came on.

Wayne Rooney FTW!

exactly. I hope they overturn it.

well, a good win, with three away goals.

I'm happy that United won the match and Dinho played decent.

btw, Is Rooney's the best in a world at the moment?

I don't know but if he continues with this form he will surely be a contender for these individual awards. 25 goals in 33 games in all competitions. 21 goals in 25 in the EPL. Very similar to C. Ronaldo and Messi's goal statistics.

That Rooney record is amazing so far. I just hope he takes on players more often and shoots from long distance like he used to be in his early United years..

I shudder at the thought of rooney getting injured, he's due breaking a toe or something daft just as he hits **** hot form.

Rooney scored more then both messi and ronaldo at the moment, the question is can he keep it up.

I kinda miss the old Wayne Rooney sometimes... He's changed. But I think now he's more effective as a striker.

Crazy last 5 minutes or so. We were cruising and suddenly seedorf scores and we start ****ting in our pants. The defence needs to be sorted for the 2nd leg. A bit disappointed we did not come away 3-1 winners but FINALLY..we beat milan on their turf!

Brown should play instead of rafael in the 2nd leg.

yeah but his role is different. He participates more in the box so he can't shoot that often. He is a better player right now and improved his game especially his headers.

btw, Mandieta6, you're here for a long time. at least post congrats!!!!

No Dinho will rape him. At least Rafael pace was useful tonight.

Possibly but rafael struggled all night. Plus it didnt help that evans was having a terrible game.

oh and wayne rooney...just gets better and better. Although he should stop venting his frustrations on nani. Always gives him a hard time when he doesnt put in the desired cross. I thought nani should have taken the full back on with his pace. That is what valencia did and it paid off.

your kidding me, brown has so much experience, he's been playing at united since 96. I Seem to have to stand up for this guy too much, he's got to be one of our most underrated players. The guys brilliant. I'd go on and explain more but this has to be a 4-6 monthly tradition.

guys, don't worry about Carrick red card. I'm pretty sure that Uefa will overturn it unless he said something to ref, did he shoot the ball after Evra foul?

Because he threw the ball away or something, according to the commentator

Sorry I didn't read this post. Was it really worth a yellow? They didn't show a replay of what he did exactly.

Milan is still a very powerful team, it sucks that Seedorf managed to get that goal. Does this mean Milan have to win 2-0 to go through?

Yes they have to win 2-0 at Old Trafford. We should make sure we do not concede any goals at home.

Btw I found a video of Carrick's red card. He did have a touch of the ball. But wasn't that yellow card too harsh? I've seen players doing that and get away with no card. I read in some other forums that its Carrick's first red card in his entire career...
