Why does it need to be 7 or 9? How about 11 Giggs or 10 Rooney? I'd probably get 3 Evra or 11 Giggs.

7 and 9 are my favorite two numbers, basically every football shirt I buy I try to get a 7 or 9 player. The last United shirt I bought was Ronaldo's two summers ago, and one of the reasons is because the #7 United shirt is the best jersey in all of sports.

If you really want #7 why not get a legend's name, like Cantona or Best?

That is actually a fantastic idea. I would probably go with Cantona.

Man every time I look at the new shirts I like them more and more.

I just noticed that the white stripe down the shoulders and sleeves have little black diagonal lines within it, just like the shorts. I don't know why but for some reason I think that just looks awesome.

I think the little devil at the end of the stripe is classy too. Just a really smart strip all round.

I also prefer #7. I like 11 or 9 as well but I don't really mind having any number.

Good game. Berbatov is by far the MotM with one goal and two assists. Smalling was good aswell but was caught off guard at times. he will learn from those moments. I was impressed with the Diouf Berba combo in the first half. Scholes was immense aswell, those long distance passes of his are just too sexy

Great performance! Berbatov, Obertan and Scholes stood out for me. I'm also impressed with Fabio and Rafael..
I'm not so sure about Smalling but it's way too early to jump into conclusions.

yeah berba had a cracking game... Obertan looked incredibly fast at times. he was over taking players to ball when he was originally several feet behind them.

Obertan looked confident, where as he would just pass the ball back, he took on players instead

Very encouraged by the performance this morning. Berba looks like he's fitter and leaner than he's been at United - sharp too. Obertan has definately got more confident and stronger, his play reminded me of Robben at times. The twins played well, Scholes was laser accurate and all the strikers looked the part.

Smalling looks good on the ball, and also likes to play out of defence - which will be usefull, he was caught out for the penalty - but overall he looks a good buy on initial impression. The beginnings of an understanding with Jonny Evans there too. More encouraging in the wake of yet more reports linking Vida with Real Madrid.

I know it's only the first game of preseason, and no indicator of Premiership football, but if the boys can translate this type of performance to League football then I think we've a great chance of doing good things.

I just saw a commercial saying that we are playing the MLS All-Stars in what I assume is the MLS All-Star game, on July 28th.

Should be pretty interesting, but if they beat us it will be a total embarrassment.

Why? Its just a friendly, nothing to be embarrassed especially if we play a more or less reserve team like the team against Celtic.

we are still relying on 35 year old paul scholes for creativity in midfield which is kind of scary.

No signs of any transfers by us.

Play like we did against Celtic, and there'll be no worries.

Joe Cole has signed for the Scousers, bid disappointed, thought he'd want to come to a big club.

On the transfer front, Werder Bremen have put Ozil up for sale (or at least will be open to offers) I hope we're in for him. We've got promising players and a good squad - but we're still lacking a spark. Ozil can give us that.
