In the past 24 years Ferguson always spent loads whenever a big player moved out. This time something is clearly wrong. Fergie ALWAYS signed players whenever needed. I guess its because we didn't win anything major this season. No prize money.

I think Sir Alex won't splash cash especially after Barba disappointment.

I can see the addition of either Milner or Cole. But it's time for Sir Alex to bring replacements of Giggs and Scholes, they can't play forever.

Yeah Giggs, Scholes and Neville have to be replaced. I wouldn't be surprised if Ferguson said that we have Rafael, Gibson and Tosic to take their place. I am hoping Tosic gets some playing time and proves his worth with us.

yeah, but he proved himself as a right wing last season. I think Sir Alex will use him mostly as a right wing or second Striker ( when he plays at left side).

Btw, Fergie may say we have Oberton as well.

i dont see a problem here, SAF has usually gone out and spend on one major buy 30 mill in the old days maybe one a year. but looking at the history of those transfers there have been few successes. rio, rvn keane(only 3 ill but it was a record at the time). historyically he is gotten much better mileage out of the second teir stars he had brought in, like carrick, hargreaves, Ole Gunnar, evra, vidic etc to name a few, some of which becoame world class playing for us. and his youth players.

all the people wanting to spent 40-60 mill on super stars has no idea where SAF has built uniteds success in the past.

he will only ever spend on big money stars if he thinks they are worth it. and right now, for the psoition we are after the is only one player worth the asking prices right now, and that is torres. gl getting him.

It is quite weird. Well, I'm thinking about a 'surprise buy' which is unexpected and it comes to a useful player. (Needed at these times)

wow did you guys watch new Zealand vs Serbia. The serbian fans one by one kept invading the pitch and vidic had to grab the mic.. walk up to the section where the fans were seated and appeal to them not to disrupt the match. Bizarre stuff.

Anyway about hernandez.. seems hes like a RVN type of player. He need service to bang in the goals. Doesnt look like the type that create opportunities for himself.

I agree fully. Fergie always look at 2-3 seasons ahead while making signings. I remember how everyone was unhappy when Vidic and Evra were bought when we clearly needed a DM. We had O'Shea and Smith as DM at that time. But Evra and Vidic paid off the next season.

I hope the new guys pay off in the future and are not the next Millers, Bellions, Rossis or Djemba Djembas. They will not make an instant impact for this coming season though but I wouldn't mind waiting. Takes time to re build a team.

CHICHARITO scored 2 goals against Gambia (H)

Not as impressive as the one against Holland but the second one shows his striker instincts. A real poacher. We've been missing someone like that for a while now. 7 international goals for Mexico in 10 games. Not bad at all.

Anyone watch the England/Japan game?

Rooney had a terrible game. Only one promising shot really, and 95% of his passes were off target and intercepted. If England play like that in the WC they are not going to go far.

yeah bad wasn't it. i'm not expecting much from them, that way if they progress through the group stages and every round I will be really pleased. And if they dont get that far... well I never expected them too anyway :D or that's my theory. Low expectations means less heart ache :D

He was better in the 2nd half. But its not really a surprise. Rooney rarely plays well for England. Its just the media hyping him up so much to the point that we are made to believe that without rooney England are screwed. Not the case at all. Not expecting too much from him in the world cup. But of course I would want all united players to do well.

What? Come on, when in form he's immense for England. During the qualifiers I remember him having 8 goals in 8 games or something at some point. Rooney is always in crap form when he's back from injury, and we all know it takes around 10 games for him to build his form back to the top.
