O empresário de Cristiano Ronaldo desmentiu hoje de forma “total e categórica” a acusação de violação apresentada na justiça inglesa contra o futebolista internacional português, que está a ser interrogado pela polícia britânica. Em comunicado, Jorge Mendes atribuiu a denúncia à “imaginação e fantasia das (duas) jovens responsáveis pela queixa”, sustentando a afirmação com o facto de uma das queixosas ter desistido da acusação, “sem contrapartida alguma, em face da gritante falta de fundamento da mesma”. O agente do médio do Manchester United assinalou que a detenção para interrogatório consiste numa “formalidade da justiça britânica” e que o jogador “acordou com as autoridades responsáveis ser ouvido hoje, tendo-se deslocado voluntariamente às instalações policiais”. Jorge Mendes considerou que a acusação de violação “não assenta em factos credíveis” e foi “motivada pelo propósito de vender a bom preço a desistência”, lembrando que a queixa só foi apresentada “depois de as jovens terem, infrutiferamente, tentado vender a sua história aos jornais ingleses”.

the bold part says Jorge Mendes confirmed that one of the girls dropped her accusations, inclusively getting nothing in return, because they were sooooo unfounded.
He also says that the girls only decided to make the complain after they couldn't sell their story to the english papers, and the complain itself was meant for them to later try and get a good fee for droping charges

That's why this is all soooo unfounded, Joe Star. 
My first comment has nothing to do with the Ronaldo case in particular, but to how harmful a claim like this can be. Imagine some broad tells everybody you raped her... The truth is, you actually have to prove your innocence and not the other way around.
And even if you prove it, the shadow of doubt will always pend over your head in everybody's eyes; don't know kitten, they said he didn't do it but I wouldn't take the risk...
That is why all accounts of rape proven false should be severely punished. Words and accusations as this one can destroy you.
About Ronaldo himself, I say let the police do its work. That's why you're paying for it, right?
Do I believe he's guilty? Clearly no. Why? Because...
HE IS GAY.
Come on. Even his ex-gf has pics of Ronaldo dressed as a woman.
