I think our midfield is weak, we're not athletic enough, but we do have skill. This would be my lineup:

-------------------Howard(hey wth, give the man a chance)

----Neville-----Ferdinand------Brown------Heinze

---------------Keane----------Scholes------------

-----Ronaldo----------Rooney-------------Giggs

-----------------------RVN---------------------

I think Rooney needs to be linking up the midfield, and not waiting for damn long balls into the box. I want Rio to be charging forward in attack like he did for West Ham and Leeds, he's damn well capable of doing it.

We can pick ourselves up and move on.

I never want to see Caroll or Silvestre again...

i like this formation--because rooney uesed to play behind ruud anyway before he got injured.

Why not Silvestre, he has been part of the good defence all season, only because he almost made a mistake, which didn't happen, it isn't easy to come in as a sub and adapt in a second. And our midfield is weak now?? If they won then our midfield would be strong right? Our midfield isn't weak, we have beaten big teams with this midfield, Milan was just better and had the killer instinct which lacked at Man U, but as I mentioned in the other thread Man U knows what to do know, believe me they will fight for this one. Milan isn't a small team, they have been European Champions six times, it isn't like rolling over them like they are a minor team, and Carrol isn't the only one to blame, Seedorf had all the time he needed to put in a good hard shot, he should have been closed down.

I'm pretty sure that's the lineup we'd all like to see. Ruud needs a couple of games to get back into the swing of things and once that happens, I think we'll have a decent shot at going through.

About Kameni, I would love to see us sign him. He's a damn good keeper, very agile and has great reflexes. Anyone seen that Belgian keeper we're after play before?

I like the line up minus Howard (we already gave him too many chances) same goes for Carroll....United has got too make some kind of move in goal.....Try anybody at this point...they can't do much worse.

I wont get tired of repeating this...

Silvestre is not good enough. He makes mistakes in every game and without Rio he is nothing.Just because Heinze,Gary and Rio have hold our defence togheter for this season doesn't mean we can have such a weak link in our defence.

If I was United, I'd play Howard over Carroll for the rest of the year. Neither gives you anything special on the field.

But Howard actually seems to care, where-as Carroll (see: not signing a new deal) doesn't.

Help?

Agree with you a lot on this one. I just don't understand why Fergie still sticks to Carroll. I can only recall one bad blunder by Howard in that 2-2 game with Lyon. A blunder against Chelsea happens to all the keepers and that kind of a ball is almost impossible to stop, because you have to watch and see which one of the 15 players in the box will hit it towards you. And that time with Porto, i really don't think that Tim should take the blame, because it wasn't an easy shot to stop going for top corner and at least Howard got to it.

But what amazes me the most is that Howard made a mistake and Fergie was quick to put in Carrol, then Howard proved himself and came back and then he really made a mistake with Lyon and Fergie again immidiately put in Carroll, now Carroll made like 3 blunders and there is no sign of Howard come in and i don't even think that after yesterday Fergie's mind about the keeper will change :( .

True, I have a lot of respect for Howard considering he still works his ass off in training and refuses to give up hope about becoming the starter. I really hope SAF gives him another shot this weekend. Carroll should go back to Wigan.

Hey Bobby, you're starting against Milan over in the PFL. Just thought I'd let you know. ;)

I agree man but not on silvest....I think giggs will be on the bench and fletcher will play. This is the perfect combination for utd. Lets hope SAF puts howard in. He is damn good and has gr8 reflexes. Let caroll know that he has commited blunders:kader:

fletcher is injured and i agree howard shud start

carroll is good but he has been protected by our in form defence for most of the time unlike howard

silvestre should definatly play. hes a lot better than brown by far and i think we gave too many chances to both our goalkeepers time to buy a new gk. It wouldn't be a bad idea to put Rooney in midfield just behind RVN and we need a left winger imo.

Guys come on, you can't be serious about Silvestre.:| Brown played superb against Milan, he blocked at least 2 shots on goal from them, and his overall game has improved.

Silvestre, even though he plays better with Rio in the team, is just error prone and constantly makes errors in matches, even though we're not always punished for them. He also lacks concentration at the worst times. I'd play him at Left back if Heinze is injured but nothing more.

I have more hope for our youngsters coming up like Pique and Spector to replace him.

What do you guys think off Spurs' Robinson,

I think he will be a good signing if we manage to get him, but 12m is a lot though....

12m? Eff that, I'm sure we could get Frey or Kameni for less.

£12 million for Paul Robinson is a joke. He's a decent keeper but no way is he worth that much money. I remember his less-than-impressive performance against Arsenal earlier this season.

Getting rid of Caroll should be the first managerial decision of next season.
I think either Niemi or Jaaskalainen would be good, experienced and cheap (considering Robinson´s price tag) options. Manchester United has a good past experience with scandinavian keepers. Sorensen would be a good target too but he is too inconsistent ( if only he could always play like in the euro2004). I´m a bit skeptical about Kameni. The only consistent african goalkeeper i can remember was Songo´o (Peter Rufai was a good keeper also during his prime).
