i wish we would get gravesen for a cut-price of 1 or 2 mill right now! he would be great and who knows maybe he can do us a good job as a dm of 3 or 4 seasons, by that time some1 or many will stand out as a dm and we can get him.

Thats exactly what I was envisioning, yeah.

Someone who actually knows Vidic better might be able to say if he is versatile enough for something like that. Then you could just abandon this Alan Smith experiement and let him play as an attacker once again. But if Gravesen can be had, that would be so much better

mind you this would be great:

-------------------vds--------------------------
----g.neville----rio----vidic-------heinze/evra

------------------gravesen----------------------
ronaldo--------------------scholes/smith----giggs
------------------------------------------------
-------------ruud-------rooney------------------

UAE is the country of the company, Etihad Airways is what we would have on the shirt.

When a South African company sponsors a team, they don't put SOUTH on the shirt, do they? :)

He looks really happy joining us. Welcome to OT, the new Red Devils.
He said he snubbed some big clubs like Real Madrid, Liverpool, Inter before. Cant wait to see him play :p

For the DC as DM talk, I also think that Rio can do pretty well in the DM position as he got good skills and he can head the ball well. But he is very important in our defence line. If Vidic plays well then Vidic+Brown as DC and Rio as DM will be a good idea. However, dont think Fergie will try this... he will only do this to Pique, O'Shea...

Unlikely. The Independent think we'll play this first XI tonight. :(

Manchester United (probable, 4-4-2) : Howard; Neville, Brown, Silvestre, Evra; Ronaldo, O'Shea, Fletcher, Richardson; Saha, Rossi

LOL, so much for resting the team for the Wothless Cup then, still no Ruud or Rooney and Richardson`s starting yet again. Anyhow, it would be nice to see a stable defence line at United, one which could be unchanged. It seems like we have a different pair of CB-s for every single game. I`ve never seen any team changing their central defenders that often before. Rio and Brown would be the best option before Vidic can be used, why put the Balloonhead back in there?

im starting to hate the midfield of Oshea and fletcher...we need more creativity than that Oshea cant provide it.

According to the dutch media, SAF would consider making a move for Roma's Olivier Dacourt, he will be out of contract at the end of the season. He is 31, he has already proven himself in the EPL and he could add alot of experience. SAF wants to add experience to the squad.

Other news: Sue Bridgewater from the Unversity of Warwick had a research about the performances after replacing a manager, and she concluded that the performances get worse after bringing in a new manager. Her results were based on the top for divisions in England. Crewe Alexander, Charlton Atlethic and Man U had replaced not more then 3 managers since the beginning of the EPL (1992) and they had a win-average of 43,03% and the other clubs whom changed from managers more then 11 times had a win-average of 32,53%.

'United bid for Real Madrid's Gravesen'

Manchester United have made an offer to Real Madrid for Denmark midfielder Thomas Gravesen, according to Danish tabloid Ekstra Bladet. The paper said Alex Ferguson's side had offered 3.8 million euros for the international, seeing him as a natural replacement for Roy Keane, but that Real were holding out for 5 million euros

MADRID, Jan 11 (Reuters) - Real Madrid players who are unhappy with their lot should leave, coach Juan Ramon Lopez Caro said on Wednesday.

'Anyone who is unsettled here should head for the door and go,' Lopez Caro told a news conference.

'If they are not prepared to help the team they shouldn't try and fool themselves or the club.' Real are 13 points behind leaders Barcelona in sixth position.

Lopez Caro was responding to a question about Denmark midfielder Thomas Gravesen, who has been reported in the British press as being unsettled at his lack of opportunities.

'I haven't noticed anything amiss with the player, if I had I would have spoken to him about it.

'I can only praise Gravesen as an excellent professional and an excellent person. I am surprised by the things they write about him.'

Danish tabloid Ekstra Bladet reported on Wednesday that Manchester United had made an offer of 3.8 million euros ($4.6 million) for Gravesen, but that Real were holding out for 5 million.

The 29-year-old joined Real from Everton in January 2005 for a reported fee of 3.5 million euros.

After being a regular starter under former coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo until the end of last season, he has dropped out of favour this term behind Pablo Garcia, Guti, Ivan Helguera and Sergio Ramos in the holding role in midfield.

Gravesen would be a great addition, Real should just accept the offer, they aren't using him anyway. I hope they can reach to an agreement,

Edit: Good to see SAF and co. active on the transfermarket, atleast they aren't blind to see the weaknesses in the squad

great all we need is another crack, maybe van der vaart or sneijder?

I say lets wait and see how Milner will develope in a couple of years time, or if Park can take over a roll in the AM position in the near future

well usually when SAF says we're not buying someone... we don't buy them.

But he hasn't said that, has he? This article just indicates United haven't made a bid for him (yet). It doesn't really clarify if we're going for him in the future or not.

Alright then, thought the Gravesen rumours we're rubbish anyways. I don't think we'd pay more for him than Madrid did, but the latest rumoured price was already around £4 mil. (How much did Madrid pay for him anyway? Around £3 mil wasn't it?) It's not like he's getting younger or anything.
