Milan want Torres so I reckon we'll lose out there.

As for Carrick, I think Spurs will just keep upping the price - United can ill afford to throw all their efforts at Carrick, they need to be actively pursuing other players as well.
I really think United should just pay what Lyon are asking for Diarra - he is proven CL quality and £18M is probably what it will take. Plus Diarra likes to bomb forward and score whereas Carrick prefers to sit back more and orchestrate play with quick short passes. Ideally I'd like United to take both.

I know we've got Scholsey, but I fear this mystery affliction may force him to retire in a couple of years. As for Ribery, I didn't think he showed anything like his best yesterday. Marseille better hope for better displays from him if they want the money they are asking for him.

Theres so many Torres links from today. Talksport were talkin earlier as though he's already signed. About a milan move, he's apparently an open critic of Serie A and prefers the premiership. Plus the situation in Italian football at the moment is possibly an advantage to us. I'd say Liverpool possibly can't afford him, Barca have already signed their striker for the summer in Gudjohnson, no chance of Real Madrid because of what Athletico mean to him, but then theres Chelsea just for the hell of a signing, however i doubt he'd go there as he'd actually want to play. He has a good head on his shoulders afterall.

Meanwhile Benfica's Petit claims he has a contract offer from us.

I'd still like to see Mascherano and feel Sneijder would also add greatly to the midfield. (H)

Petit has been claiming United were chasing him all summer. Still maybe Cristiano put in a word for him :)
Sneijder would be an excellent addition and personally I like Mascherano. I don't know how willing Ajax would be to sell him (sneijder) though. And I bet Corinthians ask for telephone number sums for Mascherano, mind you Maradona rates him highly so he must have something.

I'm drooling at the prospect of a front trio of Ruud, Torres and Rooney though - I hope it comes off!

So many players are claiming that they have got an offer from us, if even half of the stories are true than SAF and co. are pretty busy on the transfermarket

Manutd.com are doing a thing where fans can scout potential transfer targets during the World Cup - There's three up so far:

Cristian Wilhelmsen (Sweden)
Bastian Schweinsteiger (Germany)
and Torres I think.

There are some archives from Euro 2004 reports too - Wesley Sneijder is in there.

I'm not convinced about Torres either, ask any La Liga fan about him and they'll all tell you that he's pretty overrated. I've only seen a number of Atletico games and he's looked average so I'll certainly take their word for it.

I think he'd be a quality signing for us. Hes young with a good head on him, and is willing to work hard for the team. We've relied on RVN scoring all the goals for us and have only won one title in the last 5 years.

Camoranesi? He's pish.

From what I read, football is something Torres cherishes and he doesn't want to go to a club where he will be heating the bench.

And Nick, you stole the Sneijder idea. :(

just heard that spector is off to West Ham :(, thats a shame but we have too many left-backs in the squad.

Spector is predominately a Centre-Back.

Gotta agree with Nick though.

Why don't we try to get Kaka, I know he is considering a Madrid move, why don't join the race for him? He would be great at OT.
