Thats the thing that puzzles me. Newcastle have made great pickups for their midfield in the last year: Parker, Faye, Emre. Yet their defense and forwards are in such a state, that you wonder how the club couldve let the situation get so desperate :nape: They knew they needed a forward, and they didnt get one all summer. Thats just unacceptable

Newcastle had a terrific first half and United were lucky not to have lost. The fact that we had Van der Sar made it harder for them to score.

Buomsong's gift to Rooney start Newcastle's decline as the team started to run slower and slower. They've used up all their energy going all out at United in the first half.

And the second half is simply great. Great individual skill from Rooney and a cool finish by Ruud. Glad to see a much better Ronaldo in the second half, never gave up although he kept getting fouled. Was a constant threat.

Terrible ref. The match would have been very different with a better one.

Relatively quiet game for Scholes and Fletcher though they did their jobs. Decent JOS performance, good left-footed cross for Ruud that could have been our first goal.

you then realize the importance of Gary Neville

Gary Neville is definitely a key player within United. He has performed consistently for club and country. Was one of the better performers during the last Euro competition for England. Definitely has done well for United. Has a never-say-die attitude and always improves each season. Left-footed crosses were introduced last season.

It does say something when players and managers always choose him as the first right back in end of the season dream team selections. Gary Neville is a terrific full-back and still hasn't been replaced for club and country. I really do not understand those who don't rate Gary.
