Manchester United to sell 4 players

I hope United dont let Phil Neville go coz of his ability to play in many positions.

He can either be running up and down the flanks for United, or marshalling things in the centre of midfield like he did against Arsenal at Old Trafford.

I'll never forget that performance by him anytime soon.

Too bad though he has had very limited chances after that.

Giggs, Beckham or Veron won't go, I can't see it happening and you have to take into consideration that this is the time when all the tabloids go mad when it comes to speculating transfers, it's all bs anyway.

me not being a man u fan i cant imagine having the ability to just get rid of these good players and not worry about falling off.....even offering giggs or beckham to someone else is beyond me.......although we got a couple of those type players at Roma but man u is in another class......although i always love to see what type of players teams like man u real madrid inter etc. get each off season,....interesting........

Talk of Beckham and or Giggs leaving is plain bull****. It's only used by the tabloids to interest readers, thus selling papers. Rumours about Beckham taking Spanish lessons are only brought in the world by the tabloids to support the "news" that he's leavinf for Real Madrid. I'd like to tell you all that "inside" sources of the Sun, or people "being close" to Beckham/Giggs do not exist. It's just to make the story look more realistic. I'll believe a transfer when ManUtd issue a press release. Outside of that it's all just speculation.

I honestly believe Beckham and Giggs will finish their carreers at ManUtd, well at least their best playing days. They are one of the few pro footballers really loving the club they're playing for. They owe everything to ManUtd, and ManUtd owes a lot to those two.

its probably up to ManUtd if Giggs and Beckham stay.....i dunno why they would ever want to leave ManUtd

Pfft. How the **** can most of you call yourselves Manchester United fans. It's obvious you are glory supporters. If you followed them, then you would know that at Christmas time, Ferguson said he would have to rebuild a new Manchester United team. He had built 4 already and now he will have to build a 5th. Hell, I'm not a United fan, and I bloody know this.

Butt, ah, I forgot about him. I could see him going to someone like Chelsea to fill Dennis Wise's boots which they still have failed to do. Especially with the ever-ageing Petit.

Someone said Becks is whipped by Posh and that's why he won't go. Put it this way. Madrid or Manchester? Thought so.

Also this:
Still Man's boss
MANCHESTER United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has hinted he could postpone his decision to retire for a second time -- to rebuild his struggling side. The Scott, who changed his mind about quitting at the end of last season, is due to stand down as Old Trafford boss in two years.
"I could go on for another three years -- my next challenge may well be to rebuild another team," said Sir Alex Ferguson. He added: "I would consider staying on again, postponing my retirement. It will depend on how I feel in two years. The thing about life is that your health determines everything. You can never take your health for granted. If it is still the same in three years I could reconsider retiring." And Ferguson revealed just how deeply he feels for the club he has steered to so much success.

"My burning desire is United. When you have built something like I have here you don't throw it away," he added. Ferguson looks to Keane for leadership and admitted there was no decision about rebuilding the team yet. "I think in fairness to these players they deserve my trust, but at the end of the season I will analyse it all."

forgetting david may are we?

for those who have been hiding under a rock, he is still on man u's books. maybe they should just release him @ the end of the season, knowing the last time he got a game was back when clinton was in the white house, that waste of money known as the millenium dome was open, the club's kits were made by umbro, and jaap stam was an effective member of their back four.

WTF? David May don't even get first team action. How does he come into this. Ferge is looking to rebuild the squad. Out with 3-4 players and in with 3-4 players. The players leaving the "Theatre of dreams" will be reguarly. Unless these first teamers want to be bench warmers eating the wage bill which they won't, they will be off-loaded.

Even Roy Keane said nobody is good enough to hold their place at United. He warned them to start playing to their best, if they don't, then chances are that they will not be playing next season in a Man U shirt.

Yup. That's right. He will scrap his whole midfield. Did I mention it was Manchester United strongest position?

United had some good interim results thus leaving them with a good chunk of cash for 'transfers'. Question is how true is Kenyon's quote that Fergie will have to sell before he buys more. During the transfer window I thought it was pretty clear Fergie had a green light to buy a striker, as we are still lacking in that department. I'd imagine if this were the case, the same option would hold true for the summer.

I could see Giggs being sold. Beckham is United's star, and not just from a footballing point of view, plus he's a Red at heart, I'd be very shocked if he was sold. Having said that, Madrid is definitely a pull factor for Posh.

The Beckhams doesn't even live in Manchester, they live in Hertfordshire, I believe. David Beckham is the only member of the United squad to still live in the South of the country.

The players who could realistically leave are Ricardo, Fortune and Laurent Blanc. David May's contract will also not be renewed. Blanc will retire.

There are also suggestions that Fabien Barthez could leave, paving the way for another goalkeeper to come to Old Trafford. It could be Southampton's Finnish international Antti Niemi.

News surrounding Beckham and Giggs remains rumours until we have anything concrete issued by United. They are always going to be included in the papers in order to sell papers. If the Sun says that David May is going to leave United to join a third division club nobody's going to pay any attention, but if they say Beckham MIGHT join Real Madrid in the summer then it's an entirely different story - literally.

Veron is another player who can leave, as United have been trying to offload him last close season - unsuccessfully.

Ferguson has said that he needs a bigger and stronger squad for next season so it's stupid to sell four of your players to bring in four, so you end up with what you started with.

I don't think Beckham or Giggs will be going. Especially at the prics quoted. £30m for Becks, you're having a bubbly one. Shirt sales alone would put his price at more than Zidane.

Veron wants to stay too, and to be honest I can't see him going. He's been amazing this season and Man Utd have missed him when he hasn't played.

I think the players going will be the likes of May and Blanc obviously, and we'll probably see Chadwick go, not sure who else. Ferguson will probably get 2 new players, relatively cheap, like £10m for Duff and a striker for £5m-£10m. I think around £15m will be spent by Man Utd after the season is over because I can't see Ferguson letting any of the current first-teamers go.

the 4 players that could leave could be may, carroll(had a bad game against man city),blanc and chadwick...rumors are speculating that fergie is trying to buy duff and bellamy...the strikers will not leave because manu need strikers...

May and Blanc will leave for nothing, while Chadwick can realistically fetch £1m.

If Barthez is sold, and there are suggestions that he might, he can possibly fetch up to £5m.

That gives the manager £6m to spend. With a possible £15m made available by the board.

United needs a winger desperately to supplement Giggs/Beckham, and Quaresma/Duff could be the choice at a price of roughly £10m.

And then United will have to spend <£10m for a forward, somebody like Nihat.

And maybe they'll spend the rest of the money on a versatile big defender, like van Buyten, and a goalkeeper if Barthez leaves. £5m for Niemi?
