That Nice Guy
So he's finally gone out with a whimper against Getafe (what a way to go), just wondering what you guys make of all this?

I know some people think he shouldnt have gone, what with all the injuries Spurs have had over the past few months, i'm not so sure. I mean after six or so games when Ramos was rumoured i was all for Jol, but i think Tottenham have now played around 13 games this season in all competitions, that's quite a while in anyones book.

Thoughts? Ramos to take over at the end of the season apparently by the way.

YELLOW CARD: Untrustworthy
After the first results that the spurs were producing, It was just a matter of time. There were never really any indications that his job was secured and the outcome was more apparent when people on the board were seeing meeting Ramos in a Hotel. Even after they came out and said that he had their backing, its was just another way of saying, "start packing your things".

One win in ten league matches just isn't good enough when you're trying to take on the big four of English football. I can't blame the board for acting -- Tottenham are setting their sights very high, and the results simply haven't been there.

Jol will catch on somewhere else quickly.

I like Jol but he's always underachieved for the amount of money he's had to spend. He was never anything special but he got rid of Santini's ugly style of play that Spurs had adopted during his tenure.

Ajax next for Jol?

The Legend
I love how good Spurs think they are, he's the best manager they've had in ages. He's almost too good for them.

Managers need a lot of time like Fat Sam had at Bolton, and he turned them from a punching bag to a contender. Now look at them without him, glued to the floor.

Jol was probably feeling the pressure all year and making choices based on that. Shame, he was decent.

I agree with Bobby, Jol was Tottenham's best manager in a while, without him, i doubt they will be fifth again soon in the Premiership(In the championship maybe :p)

There is no way dsh's post count is 98, that dude has been a legit poster here longer than I have.

Jol wasnt helped by the fact that everyone though Arsenal were going to suck this year and they would be able to break into the top 4. Hes built a squad of young stars whom have the potential to be very good. Although in my opinion they still lack the star player/s to break through at the top. Arsenal have Fabregas and Van Persie, United have Rooney Ronaldo Tevez, Liverpool have Torres and Gerrard, Chelsea have Drogba and Lampard all are players who the team can turn to to get them out of a tough situation

It was time for him to go.

But he did a good job at the Spurs in the years he worked there. I really hope Ajax make an effort to sign him as a coach.

I thought that one player who could have been their key to the top four was Michael Carrick. Jol has yet to replace him with a player who could do a job as good as him.

Haha, I'm not as frequent a visitor to these boards as I was back in, say, '97.

I'd look even older if the board hadn't crashed and reset everyone's accounts in '99!

He failed to invest in a couple of competent defenders.

They will leak goals, Jol or no Jol.

Agreed. Not only is their defense pretty weak, Robinson is absolute ass as well. All of last season I thought that he'd sign a really good CB over the summer but that didn't happen and now they're getting raped every game.
