wow .... well as i've said over the last couple of weeks: "I really doubt he'll be coming to Newcastle but if he does it would be great!"

... great surprise indeed!

Sweet wallie :hump: So he was already introduced and unveiled on the pitch and all? Awesome

Why hasn't emre started for newcastle yet?

Out of the games I've watched I have yet to see emre play.
He started on sunday, but injured his hammy yet again. He was quite impressive up until then, and if he stays fit, I think he and Parker are going to prove quite the twin engine in midfield

As Gavin said, Thank god he didn't come back to Liverpool. I wonder how long it is before he makes an excuse about not getting enough playing time or not winning trophies. Club acting in desperation & Player acting in desperation doesn't make a good recipie for success.

The one thing Newcastle needs, is defenders, Boumsong & Carr are doing a good job but Babayaro sucks and I think Taylor is a bit young at the moment for the Premiership

true ... but if anything Owen is a great professional, and will give his all even if Newcastle wasn't his first choice destination.

I think Owen will give it his all, but somehow, I get the feeling that isn't enough. The guy can't make his own chances, he feeds off service from the midfield, which is another one of Newcastle's weak points. I think the signing of Luque will help allot, but it would also help if Dyer wasn't injured for 60% of each season :jap:

Luque is not a playmaker, i believe Owen + Luque are good signings but Newcastle will have the same problems creating chances :\

whos gonna get more goals this season? owen or cisse!! i cant see owen scorin too many for toon. hes just too predictable to beat a quality defender.

should be interesting!!

Well it's sunk in now but im still over the ******* moon.

Having read through the thread the general consensus seems to be that Souness should be sacked immediately.

I'm sorry but you dont just spend nearly £30 million on players to sack the manager before the end of August! Shepherd has shown a lot of faith in Souness since his arrival and wouldn't spend all this money for nothing.

Last season was a farce, we all know that. Souness inherited a team which needed a serious clean out.

Ok, we haven't scored yet this season but is that really the managers fault? At the end of the day it's up to the players on the pitch and we haven't had anyone to score goals except Shearer up until now.

It's up to Souness now to amke things happen with this excellent squad we have assembled and i'm confident that will happen!

Souness is crap get that into your head, he ruined Benfica when he was here. A real manager could do wonders with your team, meaning battling Liverpool for the 4th spot this season.

Awesome news even if it wasnt with Liverpool it'll still be cool to see him palying along side Shearer and no doubt they need some scoring there ;)
