Microsoft xbox controllers...arghhh

Please try to help me.......starting to wish i never purchased this game!!
I had controller issues so i went and got a wireless receiver for my pc so i could use my xbox controllers but i just cannot seem to sync them up it does not even recognise them in the game controllers window its seems the receiver is not picking them up....any help would be great
i have dloaded the drivers so its not that im running xp; service pack 3

Are you sure that the drivers are correctly installed ?

make sure the driver for the controller are installed correctly...i'm using xbox 360 wireless controller...and it working fine...

Make sure you select the right version of Windows... there is a 64 bit and a 32 bit version of the driver.

yes done that reinstalled the drivers the pad is constantly flashing on the menu button ive tried holding button down on receiver then pushing the sync button on controller but still no joy,
