Milan Derby - Inter Milan vs AC Milan [P+R]

I understand our set piece defending is kinda garbage but our flanks?! :|

Sergio can kill anybody for pace man, have you seen him play recently?

Even if he doesnt play, we have Cafu.

About Inter, I think you guys lack a strong defensive midfielder. Of any kind at all.

Cambiasso is overrated in terms of defending. He's more like a central midfielder.

If Kaká is on game, nobody will be able to stop him in the middle, unless without fouling him. The ideal Milan situation would be for him to get fouled early in the game, get Cambiasso carded, and then nobody's gonna be there to foul him no more :D

And dammit, I want Vieri to score this one wooooooooooooooo. That will flush away all those Inter-koodies and then he'll become a new man (H)

Yep. You make some solid points about us not having a strong enough defensive presence in the midfield, but I believe that our wingers are far superior to whoever will flank out in your diamond formation. Even Inter killer (definitely deadly with his pace and dribbling skills) Serginho will be overshadowed and negated by Figo/Stanko/ or Solari in my opinion. This is where we have our advantage and we should do everything in our abilities to create plays from the outside in.

Cambi is a great gatherer of the ball, C. Zanetti..........well, he's good at getting under Kaka's skin but also fouls a lot and doesn't have the physical ability to contend with him, though. Veron, who's supposed to be our main source for creativity will undoubtedly be man-marked and swallowed up by AAMFC so we shouldn't play to your strengths by attempting to shutdown the devil's excrement and futilly trying to control the middle. We should instead umbrella out like a mushroom and attack from the onset. Forget about dillying and dallying and having the mindset that we play straight up the middle of the field and wait around for counters to create goal-scoring chances.

I hope that you guys field your best 11 possible and that injuries don't become the topic of concern.

Damn straight, nigga. 2-NIL it shall be

Imagine him and Solari both on the field at the same time? Solari taking the winging duties and Stanko being given the "Freedom to roam" role like the Devil's excrement?

**** that'd be sweet and suicidal at the same time.

I actually wouldn't mind a 5 man midfield (going against my pronounced hatred for the lone striker formation.....but Adriano does the job of two often) if King Recoba is injured.

That Nigerian dwarf can park his ass on the bench until the 65min of the game.

Adriano plays so much better when he has someone creative behind him. Martins can't provide him with anything. If Recoba can't play then having Stankovic in Recoba's role sounds pretty damn good

Team Captain
Defensive Problems For Ancelotti Ahead Of Derby

Many doubts surround the availability of half of Milan’s defenders.
Paolo Maldini is highly doubtful for this Sunday night’s big derby match against Inter, as Carlo Ancelotti is still evaluating the conditions of Cafu and Simic whose presence on the pitch is also at risk.

Meanwhile, in attack the Rossoneri’s coach is expected to field the duo Gilardino-Shevchenko, whereas the ex player of the day, Christian Vieri, will start the match from the bench.

well, time to implement that deadly 3-man defence... with Stam, Nesta and Costacurta or Kaladze if he's willing to play DC :S but who to play right wing... WHO?

DERBY CAPTAINS VISIT MILAN ARCHBISHOP
Friday, 09 December 2005 20:00:12
MILAN - Milan derby captains Javier Zanetti and Paolo Maldini were received by Milan archbishop Dionigi Tettamanzi this evening. It was the wish of Tettamanzi, who has been archbishop of the city since 11 July 2002, to greet the Inter and AC Milan captains and spread a message of peace and fair play ahead of Sunday evening's derby at the Giuseppe Meazza. He spoke to Zanetti and Maldini about the educative and social role of footballers, thanking both players for their work on and off the pitch. In return, the two captains offered the archbishop the two clubs' official derby pennants and their number 4 and 3 shirts with Tettamanzi's name in letters. The meeting, organised by Gazzetta dello Sport editor Antonio Di Rosa, took place at archbishop's palace in Piazza Fontana, just behind Milan cathedral.
