Okay, first of all, I'm sorry, but my cmp help thread was closed before my question was answered.

What program do I open cmp files with?

It gives me an "open with..", then I have to select a program.

I've tried opening it with the CM, but all I get is an error saying "Creation master has encountered an error and needs to close".

Thankyou.

A cmp file is a patch. In CM07 you have the option to load a patch.
You cannot just open the file by itself.

OPEN CM
OPEN FIFA (OR CEP IF YOU HAVE IT)
ON THE MENU, CLICK ON PATCH - LOAD
CLICK ON LOAD AGAIN
SELECT YOUR CMP
CLICK ON IMPORT
ON THE MENU, TOOLS - REGENERATE FAT AND BH
ON THE MENU, FILE - SAVE
CLOSE

and you'll have your patch in the game
