This has been discussed, but I feel like it might be time to discuss it again. Basically, some people want a music forum, some don't. The main reason for the concept is, I believe: Music is as big a subject as movies, and they have their own forum.

The arguements against this are:
1. Not enough is posted about music to justify another subforum.
2. It would be more work for the mods.

Well, point 1. had been attached to the suggestion that if people started talking more about music, then maybe it'll happen. There have been several music related threads, and all of them had runs at popularity, and actual discussions, not just lists. Plus, as people said, if you have a forum designated for it, more people will come out and discuss music.

I don't really have much to say about point 2. , that's up to the mods to decide. But I do have an idea. Instead of another seperate forum, why not combine the movie forum with the music forum, and make a media forum? Where maybe even TV shows and books could be discussed. Both these things would also get more threads if there was a place for them.

If no mod wishes to get stuck with extra work, well, wasn't Sir_Didier_Drogba made a mod specifically for the movies forum? Maybe someone could join him? There must be a handful of volunteers here who would be glad to mod the new forum, in exchange for actually having it.

So, what say you, music/media forum ftw?

I'd happily mod a metal forum btw O/

But my opinion is that its not needed, and that it would be too pro-music geeky. Meaning those who actually can read notes etc would make it full of threads with musical geeky-ness.

I'm gonna tell you why we don't need a music forum, again (H)

I was looking at the diagnostics of SG the other day, and there's been a large drop-off in usage over the past year of the forums themselves, essentially, theyre less popular. We all knew that though, to be fair.

Anyway, for me taking the music threads (which are pretty popular to be fair) out of the players lounge would leave the lounge in quite a bad state, since all you'd have is 'random photo thread's and so forth, just stupid stuff. The music stuff actually helps to anchor the forum in some form of pseudo-intelligence.

All this leaves me in a bit of confusion as to the future of the movies forum though, since, i agree, there's far more call for a music forum than a film one at the minute. So, i personally think the time has come to either have: A players lounge, a movies forum and a music forum. Or, a players lounge with everything in it.

Or.... media forum + more posting in Lounge.... i just liked my media idea, and frankly, Sir_Didier_Drogba will kill me if it's my fault that there's no movie forum. but the point is brought up again that, without a movie forum, you'd have even less movie discussion.

I dont agree with a media forum and a lounge.

Let's just a open a freegin' music forum and get it over with. :| I don't remember this much speculation about it when we were talking about a Movies forum, so let's just do it.

I don't care if it's dominated by music geeks, hell, if I can learn something new about music because of it, then I'm even more for it.

Sign The Drag0n up as mod for the Music forum, and all will be fine.

Simple, we either get rid of the movies forum or we make a music forum, simple, simple.

no, the movie forum isnt been extended to make a 'media' forum as you continue to plug or endorse, that's not happening.

I believe a music + movies forum thingy has been tried before. But it was decided to discontinue that, to my disappointment really...

I dont understand the need for it, you can just make music threads in the lounge, whats stopping you from talking about music? I did not realize you needed a forum to talk about a subject.

Right, if we follow what you're saying, why does the movie forum exist? Why does the babe forum exist? As far as that goes why do we have any seperate forums? Why not delete all forums and just make one single forum in which everything can be discussed. :|
